One of the under appreciated things about John’s playing - and a large part of why he can make solo acoustic sound ‘fuller’ than anyone else, and manage to play Vultures and make it sound full, is his right hand technique. The dynamics and rhythm he can apply, and why all us other mere mortal guitarists struggle to get that ‘sound’.. it really comes across mostly when he’s playing acoustic sets. It’s all ‘in the fingers’ usually is said when talking about your playing hand (left for us righties).. get both hands working in tandem to get the nuances you want, and you get something near John.

Yeah I think it’s okay… there’s character development, at the end of the song wherein the character contemplated leaving but can’t and then complains that the woman is an assassin like him too so they’re both flawed. I think it’s because it reminds him of that playboy interview era.

One of my daughter Emily's 2 fave JCM songs. I saw an interview awhile back where he said he just wasn't quite vibin' on Assassin anymore, so the two times we saw him live she was SOOO hoping for this. Thank you so much for posting this. I didn’t think I could love this song any more than I already did. Amazing performance. This is what I love about You Tube. Saw him in Vegas in March, which was awesome. Every night after getting into bed, I put my AirPods in and search for fan footage of that night’s performance, seeking out any songs he didn’t get a chance to play at my show. Its been so fun watching him play such a variety of his catalog for this tour and this acoustic version is the beautiful cherry on this Sob Rock Sundae!! Thank you!!!
