If there was no covid restrictions, Novak would've won at least 1 more Slam and bunch of MS1000 tours. Also, 2000 Wimbledon points were taken away from him unjustifiably. Stupidly, I'd say. Now, he would've won another YE #1 title and more weeks as #1 in the world.

@@NBGD22 no. Djokovic has won 10 titles after the age of 30. Nadal 3. Come on, it’s not the same. They are even in mayors, but Novak is one year younger. In every single statistic, Novak owns Nadal, except for winning 14 titles in one single tournament. Nobody has been so dominant at one single tournament as Nadal. I give him that, but in every single other statistic , Djokovic is the best.

Let’s forget about the stats even if Novak has the numbers as well. The reason why Novak is the GOAT is, unlike Roger and Rafa, he had to win with all the noise (and hate) off the court and so many times had to win big matches with the crowd cheering against him and heckling him. The other two never experienced that. That’s just fact.

@@Ushgulubululum He's overcome.. let's see: -Coming from a WAR AFFECTED country (he withstood the bombings in Serbia by NATO when he was a toddler) -Coming from an unpopular western european country, whose tennis tradition barely existed -A sickness associated to gluten, for which he had many retirements and W/O in his matches due to its symptoms (breathing difficulty, extreme fatigue, higher possibility of injuries, INJURIES) -Making all of his entire career coming WELL OFF behind the 2 GOATs of men's tennis for many years, and finally tie/surpass them in most statistics -Fighting not only against his rivals, but malicious talk and actions from career fellows/toxicity from media/journalists/crowds/Fedal/ATP and ITF themselves (and concrete acts against him) many times throughout his career -What could've been a career-ending elbow injury in 2017/2018, and coming back the way he did -Constant pressure by ATP doing things which benefitted Fedal (cancelling Wimbledon 2020 where he was the absolute favorite BUT organizing the RG 2022 anyways out of date IN OCTOBER, kicking him out for something that clearly wouldn't have happened to Fedal at the USO 2020, banning him AO, 4 Masters 1.000 and USO all in 2022, and taking his number 1 spot by taking ALL his Wimbledon points from 2021, not having the possibility of recovering them even if he won in 2022, which he did), or doing the worst schedules only for him, as Rome 2021 where he had to play 3 matches in 15 hours because of scheduling -Bad calls, as one in RG 2013 SF, for what Nadalito broke him to after win that match, or another one in Wimbledon 2007, in a ball for which Nadal also broke to take the lead in that match... -Hate/anger against him in social media (mostly by Fedal fans) who are capable of making up anything at all at the expense of painting as a villain and the worst kind of human being and tennis player just because he beat their idols -A BS spanish GURU who was with him for many years, who was clearly a rafan, who got Novak skinnier than usual and for whom Djokovic's level those years dropped a lot Just a few things, between others, he's had to overcome in his tennis career, as you can see...

So savour him when he is doing the unthinkable in 🎾 and relish his strategical and power filled tennis that has few parallels. He is the most talented player and his game is the most effective actualising extraordinary outcomes. He has already won 10 slams post 30 and I expect him to overhaul his tally pre-30s; that is Novak for you, the ultimate tennis machine and the 24 carat meticulous Terminator.

Williams' GS record is immaterial - it means absolutely nothing as the women's game has nothing to do with men's tennis whatsoever. Many people seem to forget that Margaret Court actually won 24 GS, which is one more title than Williams achieved, but it still means nothing if we're concentrating on men's tennis, and purely on men's records. The men's game can only be judged on its own merits, and the same applies to the women's game. Still, if Novak's aiming for it, I hope he gets his wish.

Novak is not the regular tennis player. Novak is a WARRIOR like none other. He is a HERO who fights and cares for the important things in life, not just fame the guy is so great inside and outside the country. Mats, Novak actually didn't win that many "small, 250 point titles". Out of 93 won so far, 66 are the big titles (22 slams, 38 masters, 6 YE Championships - Tour Finals). He is leading Rafa in that category by 7 big titles, and Roger by 12. That's a way better percentage than the other two especially Roger who won the total of 103 titles but "only" 54 big ones. Novak won 12 titles of the ATP250 category and 15 of the ATP500. Rafa: 10 of ATP250 and 23 of ATP500; Roger: 25 of ATP250 and 24 of ATP500.

"No major competition in sight"? Seems you forgot about Alcaraz and Rune, both of whom are young, fearless, hungry, determined, and will only become even better players. Don't underestimate either of these two, and don't underestimate how difficult it is to win just one Grand Slam title, let alone 22. Novak isn't stupid enough to take any rival player for granted, and neither should you be. Nobody ever hands over a Grand Slam title on a plate - it has to be earned, and that starts by respecting your opponent. Thankfully, Novak is already well aware of that.
@dingdong4969
@dingdong4969 Жыл бұрын
@@Turrican60 It would be great if they can rise to that level, especially Alcaraz, they are both great no doubt. They are not at the level of Djokovic/Nadal/Federer yet, which makes it easier for Djokovic to grab a couple more titles with ease, before time starts catching up with him and the younger players are able to offer a better challenge. All the rest of your rant..not sure where that came from. I didn't really say anything about Novak being stupid or that he should underestimate players. Even he knows that he's head and shoulders above the rest as of now, that's why he powered through the injury and won the grand slam with ease when he was not even at his best, and you know how difficult it is to win even a single grand slam! He even had the "22" slams jacket ready before hand, that's how much he was aware of his opponents threat.
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
@@dingdong4969 the best performances this tournament came from Alcaraz. His best level right now is actually a bit better than Djokovics at this stage. That's not me saying Alcaraz is a better player. Djokovic isn't in his prime anymore. But he's still so damn good, but even more than that he's ultra clutch in big moments and he uses all that experience, discipline, self belief and so on so well. And that's why he's still ahead of Alcaraz. For now. But Djokovic cannot get any better than he is at this stage. Alcaraz has time to get better. And one area he clearly does need to sort out was highlighted by him shooting himself in the foot in his match against Djokovic by cramping thanks to winding himself up so much with nerves and whatever else facing Djokovic. But even Djokovic had a lot of troubles early in his career. But time alone isn't enough. He has to make the right moves. We'll just have to see what happens, but once Alcaraz got past his tightness at the start of set one he was getting better as it went on and it's quite obvious the tennis level is there to beat Djokovic, unlike Ruud who, while I really like him as a player and seemingly as a person, he could throw a house at Djokovic almost and still not win that match. There are levels to the game.

I’m most interested in what Djokovic is doing to keep his body going. You don’t get through a hamstring tear on mental strength, you need cutting edge medical technologies to do what he’s doing. Whatever he’s doing, everyone should try to find out and copy it, if they can afford it.

When I see how good the young players are today, I'm even more impressed by Novak. He steamrolled them all on his way to the title. I thought Rublev might take him down, but not even close.

Before the match I gave Andre around 20% chance of winning....by the end of the match I realised it should've been a 5% chance as he was never in it.

He didn't know about the jacket. He had a different one prepared. Someone in his team gave it to him after the match.

John is definitely spot on. These three guys (Roger, Rafa & Novak) have separated themselves from the rest. They're the Gladiators of the tennis sport, due to their dedication, commitment and discipline over the years. That's why where they're in terms of tennis achievements, non is even closer to them. 🤣🤣🤷🤷

Mats Wilander- FYI - Djokovic did not know about the jacket- his team organized it without his knowledge and gave it to him before the presentation. Get your facts correct, and don't be so tactless!

He certainly has very high ambitions and is a true professional to be able to sustain this level. However, I do feel the other players come on court already defeated. They're just satisfied with losing and don't believe in their chances, and this is something I don't understand. If you look at this year's AO, Dimitrov, De Minaur, Rublev all had the wrong game plan or didn't try to play any differently to at least somehow disturb Novak. Even Tsitsipas, allthough coming close in two sets, ultimately couldn't win those tiebreaks. This speaks to Novak's qualities, but it's also a letdown from his opponents. Players like Wawrinka and Thiem at least take it to him and play with everything they possess to defeat him. Maybe that is Novak's biggest quality: playing solid percentage tennis, knowing this will win him the match in 95% of the cases, having that mental edge and confidence even before the match has started.

"Satisfied with losing"? No they're not - these guys are professional tennis players who are trying to make a living. They may be accepting of defeat, but that's hardly the same thing as being "satisfied". Besides, they don't have a choice.

@@Turrican60 What I meant is that when they play Novak, they're doing damage control, instead of actually trying to win the match. Rublev was already talking about having Novak in his part of the draw, that it was unfortunate. This is not the mindset to have going into a quarter final at Grand Slam level. Of course they're professionals. I just want some more fight and competitive attitude from certain players when it comes to these types of matches against Djokovic.
