The Eagles' defense feasted on subpar QB'S all season long. The 4 times they played a decent QB, they gave up 30+ points. They were never an 85 Bears type of defense, and the Chiefs exposed them.

As a Chiefs fan .... This came across my feed. I clicked on it to see what the other side was saying. I was pleasantly surprised to hear their analysis. No excuse making or whining about calls. Just talking about what they felt went wrong after the first half and adjustments.....and giving credit. If I was an Eagles fan...they would be my go to guys for listening to things about the team. Not BS....just straight talk 👍

All year I had thought the Chiefs were way better than people gave them credit for. It’s literally like if the 2 minute warning comes and they are within one score, they’re winning. The coaching and schemes were impeccable. Also, everyone acted like their defense were slouches and they were not. I felt like the Chiefs would really surprise people and they did. When you look back, the Eagles played well. They really were out coached. When reporters asked Toney about his punt return and the other receiver about stopping on the 1 yd line so the chiefs could run down the clock, they were both saying that’s what they had prepared for. Their players knew what to do in the big moment. Crazy

John McMullen thanks for your insightful comments. I would like to add that Nick Sirianni knew that it is going to be shootout and he knew his defense would not hold up. Maholmes didn't win the game. The Eagles lost the game. Hurts was great but that fumble was the game. I blame Sirianni for that call because you never run a QB option with a spread defense. Sirianni put Hurts in a bad situation. Also, Gannon was not aggressive on defense. He played the same old 4 man rush with a cover 2 soft zone. Horrible.

@@Phila80 Often times, these games come down to one play you can look back on. I don't think it was the funble. I think it was the first drive by KC in the second half moving right down the field for a TD. After that, the game had a different feel like the Eagles were playing not to lose. Three telling stats: 0 sacks, Chiefs scored every 2nd half posession and gave up the long punt return at a key time in the game. They got out played and out coached.
@bnallappa
@bnallappa Жыл бұрын
@Phila80 regarding the fumble, the blame is on Hurts and Nick. Hurts should have gone left ( he was trending there) for minimal gain. But tried to roll right and the lb caught him and the fumble. I hope Hurts learns from this and of course Nick because he seemingly failed to tell Hurts that minimal or no gain is better than either colliding with lb or a fumble. Surprisingly nobody asked Hurts what he learnt from the fumble. But having a problem stopping the run with four old men - Eagles have this issue for a long time. Hopefully Jordan Davis develops or this will continue to be an issue. What is surprising is that Andy Reid decided to run the ball so our tackles on the right side must be terrible for Andy to run the ball. The Chiefs went about methodically attacking all our weaknesses on the run defense and special teams and that is the reason they won. All teams have weaknesses, but good teams hide them and yes we were outcoached.

Still crying? That holding call was obvious. The TV shot was not the one that mattered. But there are shots that you should have seen by now that showed him with a handful of jersey that was about a foot away from JuJu's torso. When Dee Ford was offsides and cost KC a trip to the Super Bowl, NOBODY in KC was complaining about a bad call or a call that should not have been made. HE WAS OFFSIDES and flag was 100% the correct thing for the ref to do. Our beef was with Ford. You simply CANNOT commit a penalty in that kind of spot. The Eagles lost because THEIR PLAYER HELD. If he does not hold, the VERY worst that happens is KC scores and the Eagles get the ball down by 7 with plenty of time. The decision to HOLD was the real failure. You need to hold that man accountable, not the refs. As for balance? A drive ending 3rd down play had an even more egregious hold by PHL that was not called. That incomplete pass call that negated ANOTHER scoop and score was also pretty sketch. Same goes for one of the Eagle's critical completions at the sidelines. A lot of these kinds of calls were pretty close, but the Eagles were on the right side of many of these. I think the officiating was reasonable with only the one aforementioned hold on JuJu in the earlier part of the game being a horrible non call. The rest were close enough to give the officials the benefit of the doubt, but clearly the Eagles got most of the calls.

I think the difference in coaching experience and the Chief's challenges during the regular season were the deciding factors. They had to play Buffalo and Cincy during the regular season (losing both) and fought their way past the Chargers and Denver during the regular season. Both teams gave the Chiefs all they wanted. Then they had to scratch and claw their way past Cincy in the postseason. In contrast, the Eagles waltzed past the Giants and the Niners, nor were they really tested in the regular season - unless they were playing decent QBs. The Chiefs tend to play to the level of their opposition. They also have another gear available to them when they fall behind that other teams don't have. Never count Mahomes out or believe the pundits when they count the Chiefs out (as most of them did before the SB) - that only motivates them more.

Those last two walk-in touchdowns were proof. Everyone could see it if they were looking. It was a situation of an older coach with a lot of experience vs a young coach. It was pretty simple in the second half. The Chiefs O-line came alive and outplayed the D-line which caused grief overall for the rest of the defense. The key thing was Mahomes to play as well as possible in the second half, despite being in pain, and that motivated the rest of the Chiefs. In my humble opinion, this hurt the Eagles team who I think started to believe it was inevitable that the Chiefs were going to win.

I was rooting for the call to go KC's way, but I had a hunch it would be reversed, based on similar calls I've seen this season. The definition of "football move" seems too subjective. In this case, I think the refs got it wrong because he began to attempt to run with the ball and it was secure in his hands.

Key point of game….we went for the FG on our first drive of the second half instead of being the aggressor as we had up until that point. Yes, it was 4th and 6 at the Chiefs 15, but it was imperative that we matched the Chiefs coming out of halftime. At that point, we lost our mojo.

The Eagles were outcoached by a team that knows how to test their system not just by the coach, but by SEVERAL players. The biggest weakness the Eagles displayed is their lack of adjusting and playing by multiple sets of rules in sync. The Chiefs are specialists in adjusting and adapting their play after the half. From the first half to the second half, the Eagles played by the same set of rules and actions play to play. It doesn't matter how it's disguised, if you play the same from beginning to end, you're planning to fail. The Corndog plays worked twice openly because the Eagles could not adjust their mandates and motion rules and therefore were easy to overcome. The Eagles are a good team, but they honestly were not challenged with a power team until the Superbowl. Yes they beat the 49s, but 49s didn't have any quarterbacks left and EVERY segment of their team was injured. They played against the 2nd and 3rd strings. That's not a powerhouse team.

Chiefs fans saw this all year, and it made for a lot of nail biting. Many fans celebrated this victory, but a sizeable number just heaved a sigh of relief.

Everything he said is the point they lost. A quarterback is supposed to get the ball to his play makers. But even tho everyone on his team says he’s this great guy. Ultimately he’s either selfish and or not a good quarterback. He did not get the ball to his play makers everything revoked around him running. That’s not a quarterback that’s a running back. That’s why he set those records because quarterbacks don’t run they throw or hand off and only run when they extremely have to . He runs before he thinks of giving the ball to his team mates that’s selfish and resulted in a loss

Hurts has been running and putting his body at risk for his entire career and y'all have been encouraging it all season long cheering him on every time he ran...... and now it's a problem? no...he puts his body at risk cause he's a running QB who enjoys running. How was no one getting open when he threw for over 300 yards?? If we had won, your comment wouldn't even exist! Mahomes was the one who was risking his body cause he had his leg rolled up on and reinjured it and was still running when he needed to. When hurts ran in the end zone and got tackled to tie the game, that was the call decided by the coach, not hurts.

Love all of the "if this and that"... If you could just wish the bad parts away and forget about the LUCKY parts you did get... 'If Jalen Hurts doesn't fumble', yeah...and if a Chief's dback didn't lose site of the ball (pick instead of TD), and if a CLEAR CATCH and fumble returned for a TD, and if a Chiefs missed field goal, and if the two Chiefs defenders would have went ahead and HIT Jalen Hurts on the 2 point conversion, and if the 3rd and 15 call for a catch - that was clearly bobbled....if....if....STHU. Dominating: Time of Possession - was skewed heavily by the fumble and return for a TD and a single drive. This is such an old way of thinking anyway...one of the Eagles drives was like 16 plays and forever...you got 3 points. The Chiefs turned around and got 7 points inside of 2 or 3 minutes. Scoring the most points is what matters. If I have the ball for 5 minutes and score 2 TD, but you get the ball and keep it for 25 minutes...but come away with 2 field goals - YOU WILL LOSE. Dominating: Offensive Yards - was skewed by a punt return down to the 5 and 3 passes into double coverage, 2 of which should have been intercepted. Dominating: Field was so poor, yeah - well both teams played on the same field, both teams were slipping and falling.
