@@Brenda-ef9tlI’m 42 and I remember where I was the first time I heard it…it was about 2 hours ago, at the whole foods in Covington, La. I had never heard it before, but as it played the entire vibe of the store changed. I saw all ages all colors listening, enjoying it. It’s sad how bad music is these days and how much better it could be.

Was at my Dr's office was headed back for blood work and this song came on their system. I immediately got chills and I made the poor tech wait till I could remember who it was (I'm 67). As soon as I left thew office I pulled it up and have been playing it since I left. My late husband bought me all his albums/cd's when he found out how much I love his music. Now it's time to go onto pandora. Who would have ever thought 80's music would become office background music? So grateful for the reminder.

It doesn't matter what era I see him play if it's not or then ,because I was probably fifteen when he first hit the music scene, I fell in love with him the first time I saw him. This man's voice gives me goosebumps and whenever I see his videos, whether it's then or now, I'm just mesmerized, It's like nothing else is going on around me every time. I wanted so desperately to go see him and Cleveland but the tickets are so much. Don't get me wrong if I had the money I'd be there, front and center

Best song of his. Love the reference to James Brown and the Famous Flames in the video. I saw Mellencamp once and he did a real-life split. I couldn't believe it. He had to be about 40 at the time.

I love this man and his songs that he has shared with the world. I remember as a child I saw him on the Grammy's doing I Ain't Even Done With The Night. I did not get the end when they were trying to put the cape on him and he kept shrugging it off. ThenI figured out much later he was immitating James Brown!!!! I still watch that video on here (youtube). I wish I could meet him and tell him how much many of his songs touched me.

@John Mellencamp Wow! I had no idea you would ever see this or respond. Man you are a part of the soundtrack of my life. Thank you for that gift. To this day I still listen to your songs that I grew up on. Thank you for the email address I will definily write. I hope to see you in Cleveland, Ohio next year if I can make it. I only say that cause I'm a caregiver for my mom, but I'm hoping I can see you live. Know that you are an American Treasure and u have really great meaningful songs that touch many. U b safe as well.

@Greg Hubbard He clearly states that jcm is still with us. He's just saying that we should appreciate them while they're here because like Tom we'll all be gone relatively soon. Perhaps you should check into a rehab with inference and possibly even anger management classes! With their help and if you are willing to dedicate yourself to the curriculum you can possibly still learn to read , comprehend and retain the required information to be able to talk to the grown ups....

When I saw Mellencamp on the Scarecrow tour he did this with him on guitar, the guitar player on mandolin and Lisa Germano playing fiddle. It was just those three at the front of the stage with one light on them. The song was transformed from a top 40 hot to a haunting slow country honk tune. It was one of the most beautiful moments of the countless shows I've seen over the years. Sadly I can't find this version anywhere.
