It says something when musicians do more to help farmers than the government does.

@@rwcrsarrc Those RS lists are so bogus...their last list of 200 (or, 100 - I forget) best guitarists of all time was so awful...folks missing who SHOULD have been on there while some others who were listed for what reason?!? I mean, I know some of them I just wasn't familiar with (so couldn't judge their talents appropriately), but given some of the glaring "errors" (and "legit" guitar/music folks similarly commented), I'm willing to bet some of them really shld not have been on there... SOOOOOO, I don't doubt the "error" in rating Aronoff to low down the list...I mean, goodness, the guy's SO WELL RESPECTED...and, FOR A REASON!!! And, just how many Kennedy Center Honors/White House "dos" have I seen him in?!? That sure says something ;-)

He isn't under rated. He could sell out arenas to this day, but for what ever reason has become, or at least comes off as a brooding, bitter, old rock star, who can not get in front of a mic without beating you over the head with left wing politics. He says that he never did anything that was any good anyway, which makes me want to ask if he can return the money if we were paying for junk. I don't know what his problem is but the few interviews I've seen of him are just of a bad attitude old man. Maybe he is just sick of the industry, but he has never been under rated. He is one of the few I can look past his political message for showing up, and Neil Young is the only other on my list like that. He has acted as if he wants to be forgotten, and the public will honor that desire if that's what you want

Any kind of Mom and Pop business has to take care if business or they will be run over and left in the dust, and in that regard farming isn't any different than any other business. My family has been in farming and trucking. If you think family farming is tough try getting a couple of trucks and staying in the black. Farmers were wanting help from the government but truckers just want the government to leave them alone and quit passing new regs every year, particularly with fuel @ $5.00. It doesn't matter if you own a hardware store, a truck, a tractor, or own a small construction company, large companies want your customers. Farmers just happened to catch the attention of a few big musicians. Truckers, and other family businesses not so much.

There wasn't a bad track on the entire album. He came out and played the entire album from start to finish, and announced they were taking a ten minute break and would finish the concert. First full three hour show I had ever seen by one band. He now tells us he never did anything good. He got old and grumpy.

John said something in an interview that I felt he doesn't see what others do about his music and career. He said that he hasn't written a song that he feels proud of and he loathed being a Rockstar and performing his songs live. But he loses sight that in a decade where bands were writing about girls and cars John wrote songs that showed the World the plight of the family farmer. How a small town may not have all the glitz and glitter but it does have people who have honor and dignity and insightful things to say. John was the person who told the stories of so many and left a legacy of his hometown and family that will be forever there. He should appreciate what he's done for farmers. Not look back so illicit and negative. It's a shame...

Farmers should be given grants and subsidies, not high cost loans. If this nation can give BILLIONS to Big Agra, Big Pharma, Big Oil, the defense industry and don't forget the bailouts, we can damn sure invest in our independent farmers who help feed this nation. Something is VERY f'd up in this country.

Now here in Oregon it’s the business model. Mom and dad pass and the land goes up for sale, only to be raped of all its timber and to stack as many cheaply built townhouses as possible on it. Suburbia keeps spreading and devouring land like a damn forest fire... In the smaller town I grew up in, most of the original family names have all sold and can’t afford to live here. The future seems to be a very cold and lonely world...
