Really enjoy the video and your experience. Where can I find the music at 27:31? Davis Cactus Cole? Tried searching and didn't find anything.

@@bruceburkhart1650 haha, Ice Cole Beer was the fruit of a weekend by one of my best friends. It was one of my favorite songs of 2021. I could probably track down the file or get it from the man himself

Nice. Thanks for sharing. I’m 61 and hiked it NOBO in august, same path as you, but also neroed in Tuolumne meadows because my sis came to save the day with beer, vodka, chairs, my mini bear can and a trip to whoa Nellie deli for food. Looking back, Glenn Pass was much harder than I imagined and forester was easier than I imagined, but the decent to get to from anywhere was brutal. Pinchot’s pathway up felt like a cruel joke at times.

What a great sister. Such a treat before the final 20 miles or so. Can’t imagine the joy of putting the bag down, sitting in a camping chair and cracking a cold beer at that point on trail. I still rank Pinchot as the hardest for me. Muir was beastly as well but gorgeous. I’d echo the same about Forester, awfully big reputation but a fairly easy climb with a big payoff. 🍺

During my studies in Stanford, I walked JMT solo in fourteen days nobo. A very special experience until today. Fred from Vienna, Austria.

@@fredarendt7319ooo how was your gear in 82? I’ve heard some tales from old school backpackers of when gear was all bulky and heavy and ultralight was considered 60lbs 😂😂
@fredarendt731918 күн бұрын
The weight including food was about 25 kg at the start for fourteen days , without sleeping bag, but a bivouac Sack. What I used the, was a Karrimor fleece jacket. Maps instead of GPS. But I was an alpinist with a some peaks like Denali, Nanga Parbat and Annapurna south wall later on, with focus on rock climbing up to UIAA 8- in the alps. At 66 I‘m still hiking, skiing, bouldering and kayaking.

Well done, and thanks for sharing your experience. Epic journey, nice people everywhere, deep blue sky. I did it end of June 2022, with 3 extras : Mount Langley, Mount Whitney, and before the finish line, Clouds Rest, and hiking up to Half Dome. So nice to see Kurt on your video !!
@derekandkaty4593Ай бұрын
Thanks! We flirted with the clouds rest detour but reeeeally wanted pizza. Regrettable decision today but we were wiped. how many days did you spend on trail?
@fortytogo9080Ай бұрын
@ 18 days
@derekandkaty4593Ай бұрын
Nice, that’s a healthy pace with Langley in the mix. I envy the folks that do 30 days on trail and cruise at 5-7 miles a day
@fortytogo9080Ай бұрын
A slower pace, I mean about 3 weeks to complete the JMT, seems the best choice to me. This remarkable beauty must be appreciated at its true worth

great vid! what date did you guys do the trail? did you see many other people out on trail?
@derekandkaty459314 күн бұрын
@@teddyhcuts Happy you enjoyed it! We did the trip in July/August of 2021. I’d previously uploaded the video but the color was horrible and I’ve since gotten better at grading so I corrected the video. We saw people everyday but it definitely got a wee more lonely from Kearsarge to MTR. Was nice to have each other🍺
