@eoinlane6334 but lets see what the FAI come up with. They clearly had a plan that fell, I for one am happy they ignored the noise of appointing fast for the sake of it amd wait until they get the best they can get.

The head of FAI should be sacked.The whole thing is an embarrassing mess.John o shea has been treated badly. Some of the mistakes the irish players make are amateurish. We gave them three goals through mistakes.

You cant blame the current "FAI" for the players we have at our disposal it goes back years of investment in our coaching structure at grass roots level, John is not the person currently to take us forward ( hes for the future no doubt about that) somebody like David Moyes would probably have more tactical nous at this level, as for our players they are not world beaters and we as supporters have to accept that, Soccer is not our first sport even our second for that matter, we have probably one player of real class ( Kelleher) all the rest and this is not meant as an insult are journeymen players who do their best and I love them all for their commitment and endeavours but silk purse and sows ear comes to mind.

@@Rasher1974 Agreed agreed. This old blame the FAI trope is so simplistic and boring now, its hard to listen to. The fact of the matter is the Irish people (not all) have decided to put most of the resources of a small country into sports no other country plays. That is of course their right to do so. But what they cannot then expect is for a top class international team to magically appear out of nowhere. On a side note, while I think coaching is important, I don’t think great players are produced by coaching, they are produced by nature.
