diane cry-anne nguyen - I saw that episode of Oliver’s show way back when it aired in 2016 and I thought (about Joe) “what a nutcase.” Then I never gave it another thought until watching this video - when I exclaimed, “my god, that’s right, John did a piece on Joe Exotic!” I haven’t watched “Tiger King” and don’t plan to, for the same reason I never watched the show about Dog the Bounty Hunter or Jersey Shore. Being truthful with kids and explaining why things are different in a way that doesn't scare them is pedagogy at it's finest. I work in a pre school in Norway and we've held open for select children of key workers, and what would they think caused everything to be different if we didn't tell them? Not knowing what is up when something is clearly up is almost always more panic-inducing than the truth. Edit: spelling.

Nonya Buznis I don’t get why so many are against your statement, you’re totally right- she is a massive force against this abuse that’s why so many tiger abusers/fanatics knew her and hated her. It can be damn near impossible to garner sympathy for the likes of these ‘American Tiger Freedoms’ tiger exploiters on the show without painting Carole as ‘one of the gang’- the same narcissistic power hungry loons like ‘Doc’ Jeff, and Exotic which they did perfectly with the husband’s rumor. It’s more thrilling for Americans to believe she fed him to tigers and this became the only unfortunate takeaway from the audience about Carole.

N Corp it’s the lack of empathy in American culture that has allowed for this obscene disconnect. Torture is torture but to people like Joe Exotic, because he fed the animals and kept them from ‘dying in the wild’ he ‘loved’ them- even the way he treated his ‘husbands’ shows this.

Y'all should read up on tiger temple in Bangkok. For years it was said that all the poor tigers were sent to live in peace with the monks. I'm not opposed to owning a pet like this but it's a lifetime commitment. We had a customer who USE to breed them. Last I knew John had 17 cats but the catch is he didn't breed for money as the guy was a multimillionaire and even moved away with the cats.
