Hello Abigail…recall doing an elementary school project back in the 60’s. Each student was assigned a state to report about, and I drew Indiana. It seems there’s no definitive answer as to the origin of the term, “Hoosier.” I recall that one theory speculated that the expression was traceable to early pioneers, who asked, “Who’s here?” Sounds as plausible as any other theory I’ve heard.
