Not that I'm trying to excuse Carter, believe me, but I guess it's kind of noteworthy that he is a victim of conversion therapy himself and has been his entire life. Declan is a present reminder of how Carter is still desperately craving the acceptance he never received from his dad as a child. I know he's a grown man but hell, I feel sorry for him.

People seem to wilfully ignore that he’s been suffering under conversion therapy for decades, and it all started with his dad. Hes been mentally abused and needs help. He’s had none of the privilege of acceptance that JP and Lucas have growing up. Lucas will be done with CT in 6 months or less and he’ll be fine because he has always had queer-friendly support system and no homophobia inherent in his life. Carter won’t be fine because he never had anyone to help him when it mattered.

I’m tired of JP and Carter. This isn’t love. Why can’t JP ever have someone of substance that loves him openly and honestly? Why date a person who doesn’t love you or respect you? I don’t ship them just like I didn’t ship Mitchell and Scott, this is ridiculous.

Declan stopped over early to tell Carter they need to continue with the grooming/conversion therapy of a minor. All this wouldn’t be happening if John Paul didn’t let someone with that dangerous mindset be headteacher at a school. He used to be one of my favorite characters too, it’s a shame.

Backlash for what? He doesn’t know that Carter is still doing CT. I mean, he’s dumb for not understanding how deep Carters psychological trauma runs but he doesn’t deserve backlash for banging someone he likes😂

I mulled over this for a bit; Declan in rl Alan Turkington is 48 and Carter in rl David Ames is 40 so maybe not but still an interesting thought. Unless Alan is playing someone a lot older. But there was definitely a bit of a sniff of history in the way Declan touched Carter’s face - not sure if it’s a relationship history, a long friendship which has seen a lot of ups and downs, maybe just a sort of father figure or big brother type dynamic, but it was interesting if a bit unnerving.
