John Prescott was instrumental in negotiating the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on climate change. He brought two factions of the Labour Party together, and had he not, it would have been unelectable. He called out injustice frequently. He was not perfect, but achieved more than me or the many keyboard-warriors. He will be missed.

The Kyoto Protocol unfortunately did not work, nor has any subsequent protocols. It would have been a huge achievement for John Prescott if Kyoto had worked but it came nowhere close to working at all.

Vital working class connection and influence in a middle class administration......instrumental in bringing about the Kyoto Treaty...... following Potters Bar, ended the private rail infrastructure maintenance program (Balfour Beatty profit over safety) and brought rail maintenance in house, government body controlled, creating Network Rail and systematically implementing a full track/rail renewal programme. Pretty impressive I reckon 👍
