First i'd heard of John Miller, he was slapping an old stand-up bass in a shed with Pat Reedy, part of the band ( • Pat Reedy & The Longti... ). At the time, I hadn't a clue he played his own tunes, though I must should've guessed. We were in Nashville, after all. Well, he did a damn good job on that bass, and someone in the comments of the video asked the question on the mind of all those in-the-know, "does this mean we're gonna get a John R Miller video?". My first thought was, who is John R Miller? Then I realized who, and now here we are today.
I'd rambled down to West Virginia for the state fairground show of the century, Tyler Childers, Arlo Mckinley and a bunch folks at Healing Appalachia festival. Our old friend Charles Hatcher, manager, instrument repair man, sage and madman, invited us, said there'd be good music and for a good cause, drug rehabilitation. All for that, we hit the road for a good time. John Miller was there, and we snuck off to the race track bleachers for a sunset performance with him and Chloe Edmonstone on the fiddle.
Okay, I see why y'all asked for him. What else can I say, the song speaks for itself, don't it?
