John Ritter had an aortic dissection! My wife died of an aortic dissection in may 2008! Mortality rare for this condition is only 10 to 20 percent! I ask my cardiologist about this, it has noting to do with the heart. Its usually a fast and unexpected death. A total shock for the families. We were married for 41 years!

what the hells wrong with his family?! i can understand them wanting something done about the doctors for the misdiagnosis, but the fact that theyre after what he would have earned?!

For all you people saying "Doctors make mistakes" HELLO???? They misdiagnosed his torn aorta as a heart attack. That is misdiagnosis, and if they would of done their job better they would have realized it and he would still be alive. Why would you support doctors not paying for their mistakes?? I am sure if you make a mistake and lose a customer at work, or lose money at work then you will get written up or fired even. Why shouldn't doctors get malpractice suits against them if they lose a patient out of their negligence. You don't realize that there are strict methods to follow in certain situations. These methods were CLEARLY not followed. That is why they got the settlement from the other doctors. These doctors clearly didn't do anything wrong, so they got off. But for everyone who thinks that doctors shouldn't be punished for not doing this job to the best of their ability, I don't EVER want to live in a country run by you.

Joella Vandever Exactly! Maybe a few malpractice suits and settlements is what they need to wake them up.

I read in an interview where his son, Jason, ended up regretting being part of the suit while the trial was going on and the verdict was reached. Fast forward a little and it's worth noticing that Amy writes about Jason in her book only when she feels she has to and never once mentions ex-wife Nancy who, from my knowledge, had nothing to do with the lawsuit. I know Nancy is the ex and all but I think it speaks volumes.

His was such a tragic death. I think part of the discussion in the video about the family was due a certain measure of compensation is correct. His discussion about earnings and potential earnings is certainly part of any settlement negotiations that may occur.

Sometimes these high lawsuit amounts can be deceiving, because in context John Ritter would've made that much over the next twenty years.

The $ is inconsequential. Its the cause of action that has arisen as a result of negligence/malpractice. Unless you are in that position, its difficult to second guess. I would be pursuing the same couse of action if there was cause to believe that his condition was incorectly diagnosed.

the show's meant to be about how the parents handle having two teenager daughters (i know how we can be) so it wouldn't have continued the meaning of the whole show and also the girls were getting older

chelsea: Meaning that his "wife" gets as much money as possible and his kids and ex have no interest in her. Yea I could have told you that is the case if you mean anything like that. I always hated (and this is speaking from someone Jason's age) how John and Amy became an item. Them being friends from Problem child is one thing but I just have a feeling they pushed a relationship that had no basis outside of being pretty.

Yea and when I think he was very anonymous after 3s company it is a stretch to say he had 30 year career that boils down to two shows. Don't alot of celebrities maybe have a slow spot but work carer?

Ritter definitely looked like someone with an obesity problem. It was easy to tell that it was serious early on. What surprises me is the fact that his wife didn't have his ass in the hospital or some program well before the tragedy ocurred. Makes you wonder what her intentions where. We have all heard stories like this before.
