All my heros, been meatless for 38 years now and I love those who can bring attention through the web are speaking out. I only do by example and many family members and friends are coming around. So we all have a responsiblity to do our part. Thank you for these summits.

Thank You for helping to wake people up. especially those who do not believe that our Gov..would do this to the World...there are some that really do not care what they eat...Those of us who do...care about each other and most of all our Children...Thank You...

I agree with you. He probably eats cheese too because he likes it, because both meat and cheese are addictive foods. "Going vegetarian" does not have to be about principles. For me, at least, it has more to do with becoming and staying healthy.

While Pollan said some pretty important things, I find him weak in some ways. He spoke more as an academician than an activist. That activism needs to be included in these types of presentations. As for vegetarianism vs meat eating, I think the point is that all farming is more productive on small-medium size farms. that support diversity. The film FRESH which was a free online watch this week, makes the point beautifully for sustainable farming which inputs as much as it removes.

Monsanto was bought out by Bayer. Bayer is a German company. In case US government ever wanted to take action, would foreign ownership complicate enforcement and fines? Since Monsanto did the harm, can Bayer be made to pay damages? I don't know, just asking?

Organic food is good for us but why it is so expensive ?

one reason I can think of is demand and supply. that's why more of us need to buy more organic. Take health in to account, the additional price paid up front is fine for me. : )

No government subsidies. Big corn and soy get tax dollars. Then big corporate interest in funding political campaigns essentially "buys" them a congress member, so. no regulations.

I agree with all. M. Pollan is in mainstream media. As such, he disappoints one who expects him to speak it "as it is". Mike, "Tell us how you REALLY feel".
