John H Stracey, a great boxer and gentleman. Took the title of the great Jose Napoles, and it took another great, Carlos Palamino, to take the title off him. Good luck to John Ryder.

Nice piece with the two John’s. Mexicans are not anymore hostile than a Brit fan can be. We are passionate and brave, you are taught not to start any fights but you better well finish it. That’s just the way of life for us.

@Cerberus we know canelo has the judges in his pocket. Callum wasn't hurt at any point, and boxing scene had the fight to canelo by 4 rounds. So barely survival, it was quite comfortable and had smith been braver then who knows. He got out boxed by Bivol and yet refuses to take the rematch at his normal weight in case he loses his belts, which he will. Then where does he go. When Bivol moves back up to fight for undisputed again in his own class. He can then try to win back his titles when they become vacant. Maybe then we will see canelo vs. Benevides

Oh brother, gotta love the Brit heart! I found Ryder appealing ever since the Jacobs fight as I found in him similarities to Canelos style. But like Hatton, Smith and other English warriors, Ryder made a fan out of me with the magnitude of his performance! Any elite fight would’ve given up after a broken nose, as there’s no chance at the biggest disadvantage against a beast oike Canelo when you need to be at your best in every part of you! Nonetheless, John Ryder fought Canelo handicap with no signs if quitting from the 2nd round!!! I can only imagine how the fight would’ve turned out if Ryder had not suffered a broken nose! I am a Mexican boxing fan and I would love to see Ryder face Benavidez in his next fight! I thing be could win that fight. Lets Go John! 🦾💦🥊🥊🥊

@@chrisjonson3820 I think I understand what you’re saying. They were lauded because they were British fighters but the press fully understood the level our boxers were operating at. On a world level they were massive underdogs, which is what we tend to root for, and remember this was a time when Longsdale belt holders were household names. Winning a British title came with a lot of respect and exposure. So when these guys were able to win world titles, even though they weren’t of the level to sustain that, it was a source of pride for British boxing. So when they are talked about as great fighters it’s in the context of great British fighters.

Matchroom do realize that if they want to reach a global market they should make these promos more like Showtime or even motivedia boxing channel - bring him in, you hire youtubers anyway and it apparently works. Not sure how to describe it but it has too much of a british feel to it - like you went to the pub or buy some pie and chat with some mates. Just can't see someone globally looking at this and being that interested. In comparison they managed to convince people that Tank and Rolly is a solid fight they should watch. Flashy cars, big buildings. Not that it matters in the ring but just promote better. They are fighting in one week in Mexico. And we have not seen Mexico city. Gambling, women, cars, drama, danger even

@@themorgansinclair thank you for the wishes but you don't get my point, and the fact that from all that you got women which is literally one word is also telling This does not have the feel of a global promotion. No american which is the biggest market would care about 2 British dudes talking on a table in a cafe. Compare that with all access of showtime - background music, big cities, flashy cars, money. And compare the most important thing - views. Matchroom did what - a 5 min video with Lara and a Leeds promo targeted for Warrington fans. Just wasting money
