My father never physically abandoned me, but he never wanted to be a part of our family for as long as I can remember. He always used work as an excuse to skip birthdays, family gatherings, etc. As a result, I never really had a father figure in my life to lean on or guide me. Only 2 years ago did I discover that kind of relationship with my acting coach. He's very much the Silver to my Jim. As a kid, this was my favorite movie. But now, as an adult I see this and cry from how much he's taught me.

the last memory I had with my dad was when he was fixing a car. he told me to stay and help I got bored and saw a mango tree so I climbed up to get 2 mangos. Then I hear my dad screaming my name I run up to him and said "hey I got man-" when I get their he slaps my face so hard that I fell unconscious. I wake up and my parents are screaming at each other. My dad leaves and my moms on the ground crying. He left because he wasn't happy with us. Last time I saw him....

Truth is people, Disney already had a plot set and ready for Treasure Planet 2 but didn't wanna use it cuz the box office for the first movie was rly bad so they put in their junk box. This made me so mad. I wanna just march to Disney studios and just shove in their face like "MAKE. THIS. MOVIE."

Dragon Tamer Productions Read all about it here. animatedviews.com/2014/buried-treasure-the-ill-fated-voyage-to-treasure-planet-2/ I personally found it to be extremely derivative, although the design for the villain (to have been played by Willem Dafoe!) kicks serious butt.

A lot of Disney leads have parents that have left them, but none of them show that as accurately and as _real_ as this one does. Treasure Planet is quite possibly the best animated film there is out there.

This movie, while it won many awards, is still so very underrated. I love this movie, and it's probably my favorite Disney movie, alongside Atlantis and Hercules. But since it's not centered around princesses or involving some great musical score every two minutes, nobody pays attention to it - the same as with Atlantis. People complain about wanting more animated films about adventures and excitement and dealing with real problems and people but they overlook Atlantis and Treasure Planet and it's so sad.

True that, unlike those musical and princesses purists? I may have been a Pixar fan but I'm also all for the fun and adventures stuff like this movie,Atlantis,Dinosaur,Brother Bear,Lilo & Stitch,Chicken Little,Meet the Robinsons,Bolt, and more too. Plus, even my favorite LA movies that aren't remakes like the POTC trilogy, the Narnia duology,TRON: Legacy etc.,my favorite channel Jetix and my favorite block from Toon Disney called Jetix as well :D Besides, truth is? Winnie the Pooh was the only fairy tale from Disney I counted on since I didn't care about the other Golden to Renaissance Disney movies much tbh lol.

Well I honestly didn’t fall him so much at first cause when I was younger I just wanted him to be happy and to be someone who became strong like him through all the pain I saw him go through, and wanted to be his friend and find someone like that in real life. I guess the scene made me think of the idea of abandonment to accept that sometimes you won’t know the answer until you do, or never. That feeling of loss before you could begin to understand why you need to remember but also forget and not let that bother you because you can still live on afterwards. That’s what I contemplated so many times when I saw this scene when I was younger and I even felt that pang of anger and confusion as to why from the movie Swan Princess when the parents said “This is my idea” making me angry as to the parents thinking this was a good thing making me feel that they were selfish. Now I see the similarities for the idea that people may have their own reasons or things just happen as they have happened. Whether or not you meant for it to cause pain and misunderstanding.

Jim Hawkins and the Cyborg remind me of me and my step dad (never adopted). He's a jerk, though and has pretended to be nice, so that's how he relates to the cyborg. I was young when I last saw my real dad. But now in my life I can say that I have a father true figure, and I'm grateful. I can relate to this song and that's my favorite part of the movie. I got a bit teary eyed.

Thanks for uploading this scene. I haven't seen the movie in a while, and I forgot how great the animation could be. The mixing of two genres is still a bit odd, but this montage does a great job with going more into Jim's backstory, showing how it shaped him, and building his relationship with Silver. For all the bad press this movie gets, there are some real gems buried in it.

This song probably describes my teenage years more than anything. You don't know who you are, what to do, you feel like you're being left behind and that no one listens. The world seems to suck. But once you get past all that and find your true self, the world becomes a much better place. at least....that's what i got from this song.

I still can't believe this film didn't do well... it deserved to do well! And the music is one of the pure reasons it should have been one of the best Disney films out there. Johnny should be mega proud of the song! I would! The movie itself is very unique compared to most Disney movies, a struggle of a young boy who is going through a magical journey, meeting new faces and different places everywhere he goes and much more. By far one of the best movies, so underrated but so beautifully done.

Nominated. Spirited Away won the year it was nominated. Both are great movies but I would say Treasure Planet is more of a technological achievement while Spirited Away is an all around excellent film. Treasure Planet is great but some of the characters outside of Jim and Silver are a little to goofy for me to call it a masterpiece beyond the visual spectrum.

I was completely obsessed with this film when I was about eleven. I watched it at least twice a week. The Flatua was the best! And Emma Thompson is a genius!!! She's really beautiful and really funny at the same time!

I feel so bad for him, losing his dad that way and all, but the combo of Hawkins and Silver was a match made in heaven, father and son moments to the extreme. Also, the song is magnificent! Couldn't have been better placed in this movie or any other! thanx for the post!

I absolutely love that the song conveys such a deep sense of individualism. Jim isn't trying to fit in at all in the movie, just to accomplish his dreams, and that is something that not many have the confidence to do.

I can't believe I haven't been interested in watching this movie until now. The animation mixed with the CG was fantastic and the characters were all likable! This is my favorite scene in the whole movie because one of the things that won the movie over to me was the great relationship between Silver and Jim. But I can't help but feel nervous seeing Jim on a small plank of wood picking space barnacles off the boat...There is nothing but space below....OnO Thanks for uploading this great part!~

Best movie disney has made that has an original plot. Something where the main character doesnt fall in love with the first girl he sees... Disney just needs to rerelease this movie. See how many people go see it because of thier forgotten childhood dreams...
