You're doing a lot better than I did at your age young man, lol. I was an elite level athlete as a teen, but for decades I let myself go and drank/ smoked regularly until I quit both habits cold turkey at 50. I'm almost 64. I started working out every day again with bodyweight circuit training and traditional martial arts weapons training with long and short staff, sword, rope dart, sai, and practicing all my Taeguk and Palgwe forms, and practice TKD black belt forms up to 4th degree, (including the original Koryo form) about 4 years ago now and struggled to improve my diet, also worked on getting better sleep. I spar with my 24-year-old grandson who is also a black belt in TKD and has fought in MMA bouts several times in Anchorage, Alaska, (I live in Nome, my grandson travels a lot, I have him watch your channel and we talk about what we notice as well as what you and your co-hosts say). We spar empty handed and with foam swords, which is insanely fun, because we take it so seriously and we treat the swords as real when sparring. He's gotten good at sword fighting. We sometimes spar with one sword each and sometimes spar two swords against one or both of us with two swords. We came up with an advanced scoring system too. I'm 5'8", earned my Kukkiwon approved first-degree black belt in Taekwondo when I was 52 even though I was still technically obese at the time. I'm studying drums and guitar every day, I started at a little over 200 pounds, now I've been able to keep my weight around 168-172 for the last 2 years or so. Anyhow bless you and your family, and thanks for your channel.

I actually wrote a comment about how good you look and how I've been watching your old videos, and was asking advice for that lol. I hit play and you started explaining it and I was like oh man that's amazing. Fasting and keto worked for me without any exercise, I lost about 60 lb but I gained it back as soon as I went back to carbs.

John thanks for sending me the link to this video. I'm frikken proud of you brother. It's no easy task kicking self destructive habits and routines and grinding towards a better you. I personally am on day 67 of 100 of a self tailored "100 challenge", 100 of each pushups , lunges, squats, core (mountain climbers and CrossFit sit ups 😭) I try for every day but often need to skip days, recovery, commitments etc can disrupt that, which is ok. I do daily ice baths between 5 and ten minutes (yowza - intense but HIGHLY recommended). Cut down carbs and junk, especially sugar. Grass fed beef ftw. More energy, better sleep, better moods, physique and strength. Loving life. Don't listen to the haters my dude, internet can be super toxic. I commend your transformation and am incredibly impressed with you, you're a high calibre individual. God bless you and your family ✝️ much love and respect

Yes. I have found that low-carb is key. We need to allow our insulin levels to become low for extended periods of time in order to burn body fat. This is a process we are not told about. This equates to eat meat and the fat that comes with it. Yes we have been lied to by Govt. guidelines. And gaslit by the medical establishment. Next, consider getting industrially processed seed oils out of the diet to minimize inflammation. Go, John! 🙏

Huge results man!!! So proud of you and I have to confess that I was one of the ones who pointed out that while you counsel and help people be more prepared, aware and capable, our bodies are our first line of defense against all that this life brings. Not only that, your wife and kids get a better man, a more capable man, a mentally stronger man and they get that man for more quality years than before the changes. Time waits for none of us. You get ONE chassis. Make it work. Well done once again! Thank you for the example.

If you are fit or in shape and teach self protection, people are more likely to take you advise serios. I'm part in category because of all the bullshido "masters" back in the day. Still, people should listen and later criticize.
