For me Lovano was the x factor in this group, Schofield's tunes and playing were hip and harmonically coherent, and Lovano brought his unique free impressionism to these tunes. After writing out a couple of Lovano's solos, there's a power in what he does and I'm a fan, but the melodic/harmonic relationships remain a puzzle.
