I've watched the Apollo 11 documentary maybe 6 times now. It's intense. But one of the best things I learned about it was this song.

Yes it was so appropriate. All those men in white shirts who were boys who dreamed and the dream happened in Apollo 11

I’m a three tour combat Vietnam veteran. 1966,67,68. Discovered John right after I was discharged. He’s been with me and I with him ever since. I miss him so much. Been to many of his concerts. Thank you John for helping me return from those brutal years when I needed his voice and songs so much.

I also returned in 1969 and left SFO as fast as I could. This song was playing on one of many bars....

I can imagine as the Apollo 11 capsule is re-entering Earth's atmosphere, with this wonderful All-American song playing loud on Buzz Aldrins tape player, during the re-entry stage of their mission. I'm glad the filmmakers picked up on that as they watched archived footage and heard it in the background. If you look into his career he did amazing work with a lot of bands including actor Tim Robbins father to the Monkees... He also had that hit song Gold in the late 70s, although he didn't like it very much he claims he did it for the money. But I thought it was a good song and he made it. His work will be missed but certainly not forgotten.

My memory may not be too good, but while in Army Basic Training at Ford Old, CA., picking up SF radio, this was more popular than Suspicious Minds.
