One reason Buprenorphine treatment may show more drug screens that show no illicit opioid use is that due to its ceiling effect and partial against property it is often only used for patients with a low or moderate level of severity of their addiction. Patients with moderate and severe levels of addiction are most often treated with Methadone because there is no ceiling effect and it is a full agonist.
