It's definitely fair to call this an interference penalty, but when you don't call the 20+ other interference plays in the same game (many of which were more egregious than this) fans have every right to be angry. Look at the whole sequence again and notice when Tavares scores his goal all Leafs players celebrate the goal, except one of them. One Leaf player doesn't immediately celebrate the goal. That player is Justin Holl. Holl doesn't celebrate the goal. Why? Because he knows he's probably going to get called for that pick. Right after the goal, when all of his teammates are celebrating the goal, Holl himself looks like someone who just got caught by grandma stealing cookies from the jar.

@@okyouknowwhatever ya Holl does look guilty which probably doesn’t help but really shouldn’t matter. If that play happens away from the puck or doesn’t lead to a goal, does it get called? The NHL will need to address it sooner than later since it’s becoming a major part of offensive zone control.

That game should've gone to OT we both put 2 in the net , you don't make a call like that in a game 7 . Secondly we got away with some penalties as well to be honest . Thirdly major respect to Braydon Point for toughing it out and playing a shift in the 2nd period , that fall looked brutal . This series deserved to have a game 7 OT with the Tavares goal called back us as fans were robbed of that but either way going forward , considering Tampa hasn't been taken to a game 7 in their previous 2 cups runs and we matched them very well I have confidence that this isn't as much the same Leafs team that chokes , we matched them punch for punch , just simply the better team won . In the NFL if it was a loss of down and 15 yard penalty on offense to be wrong. On defense if you are wrong it can be an auto 1st down 15 yard penalty. Depending on the situation if you were wrong you could lose over it. In the NBA if you are wrong the other team gets 3 free throws and possession of the ball after. That can be a 6 point swing for being wrong. I mean he had his hand up to call the penalty before the goal was scored. At that point you have to call it you cant just pretend you didnt lift your arm for a delayed call. The whistle was even before the goal.

@@bengarland9666 Holl went in to play the body against somebody who didn't have the puck, it is 100% interference... I will absolutely agree to the idea that the refs have not been calling that all series, but the arm was up before the goal was called :/

What part of obvious pick (he skated to it!) don't you see? If it didn't happen Tavares never gets that shot off. There is no goal to whine about.

The ref looked more than happy to announce the decision. Tampa though will not win a third cup this year. Karma is going to get them. Kudos to the Tampa goaltender though.
