The scariest part of these notorious killers for me, is how engaging, intelligent and “normal” they seem in conversation. There’s nothing here that screams “MONSTER!!” No wonder their victims didn’t stand a chance when first approached by these people, they were entirely credible. I’ve seen Bundy and Kemper interviewed too and their coolness and exterior rationality was astonishing. All these men could have led blameless, decent lives that made a positive difference to others. How seemingly intelligent and high-functioning people veered off down such dark, murderous roads is something I’ll never be able to understand.
