Oh man, that would be something. You know San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside in the south and some other northern counties like Modoc, Lassen & Shasta would stay with the union. Then CA would pretty much be a country consisting mostly of the coastal and some central counties. In fact, they're already starting to call for that. CA is on the losing end big time.

When he was in good health and in a “public setting” JW was charming. When you ran into JW in the private sector he was an asshole. He was nasty as hell in Ridgeway, CO filming True Grit. Saw him in a grocery store and watched as an innocent asked him for an autograph... he went berserk. Screaming at the poor woman that “Am I not allowed a private life???!!!” All he had to say was no thank you and she would’ve left. Glenn Campbell was so sweet and friendly. The director always bought every child in the restaurant an ice cream when he ate. Never saw Kim Darby. Never saw Robert Duvall but JW was a particular asshat... repeatedly.
@TWS-pd5dc
@TWS-pd5dc 4 жыл бұрын
I would hardly define him just by one incident. How do you know what he was going through at that time? He could be cranky, but he had a lot of health problems, had survived lung cancer and was in pain a lot. Maybe the woman was being rude and intrusive? I've seen people interrupt stars when they are in the middle of dining,, etc. People don't think, they feel "well he should give me an autograph period".Not how the world works. And the fact is almost every actor who worked with Wayne spoke well of him. And these were stars on the opposite side of the political aisle from him BTW. Liberal democrats like Angie Dickinson, Kirk Douglas, George Takei, Jim Hutton and many others. I seriously doubt that he can be defined as an "asshole", that's a cheap shot. And for the record Kim Darby was a constant problem on the set from all reports. Perhaps that was what made Wayne a little cranky? Add to that the fact that while Wayne liked Glenn Campbell and admired his talents, it was clear during shooting that Glenn was not much of an actor. That also could account for Wayne being short with people and a little cranky.
