Don't know if you noticed in the final fight scene, where John intentionally directs the knife into his pre-existing wound. He did the math... he'd already suffered that wound, so the blade wasn't going to do much additional damage, yet it allowed him the leverage to break the arm and take the blade.

When John Wick asked Francis the doorman bodyguard that he lost weight, he was asking “ how many gunmen do I have to kill to get to Iosef?” Francis gave the answer with how much weight he lost, which is how many gunmen are inside. Keanu Reeves trained for weeks with the stunt crew in all the fight scenes, so he could do the fight scenes himself. He earned the respect and admiration of the stunt crew because of his commitment and dedication. Keanu bought motorcycles for all the stuntmen to thank them. Keanu practised long hours in the gun range/obstacle course and became very proficient with all sorts of firearms. Shooting with live ammo and reloading very quickly.

Well it also helps having such a dedicated actor like Keanu Reeves too. There are movies that had great choreographers and directors, but the actors simply either couldn’t, or wouldn’t, perform to the level the producers wanted from them. Keanu spent weeks going to gun ranges practicing with live ammo to do stunt and reload guns as fast as he could, while also shooting targets. He did all of his own stunts throughout the whole movie, and all of the fighting was practiced between him and the stunt crew dozens upon dozens of times. He gave it his all, and it really shows. Great production team all around, from the actors to the directors to the writers, etc.

Here's the thing about Keanu: he's the kind of actor who needs to be paired with just the right script and just the right director - and then he's magic. He's not one of those actors who's automatically brilliant in every movie he does (he's not "self-sufficient" in that way), but movies like this show just how much star power he has when everything clicks. Great reactions as always! :)

I never understand why so many reactors to this movie dont understand why the Russians did that. They all say the same thing - 'over a car???? Why??' It wasnt the car. It was the fact that John not only wasnt intimidsted by them and refused to sell the car, but he replied to the Russian's insult IN RUSSIAN and made him look stupid. John humiliated those 2 Russians, so they wanted revenge & to humiliate him back.

Hey guys, like you I wasn't a huge fan of Keanu's either, but when I saw this movie, I became a fan very fast. Also, what made it even better, is knowing how much intense training he did for these movies; as well as the Matrix movies; doing most of his own fight scenes and stunts, and working long hours to get it done. Also, the hospital scene where his wife died was probably difficult emotionally for him as well, since he lost his sister the same way. He was very close to her. He also paid all of her bills during that time as well. The man is no Hollyweird puppet and is a true badass! Can't wait to see you watch #2. Thanks gents!

6:35 Keanu Reaves have personally gone through the sudden loss of loved ones: his daughter was stillborn and her death drove a wedge between him and his girlfriend and just as they were beginning to reconnect a year later his girlfriend died in a car accident. When I saw this movie and the whole death of Hellen sequence I couldn't help but think that the emotion shown by Keanu were maybe more genuine than just an actor's performance.

Hey Guys! "Don't blame yourself" is said because John Wick had to make the hard decision to approve shutdown of his wifes Life support devices in the Hospital like seen in the scene before. Also nice to know is that Keanu Reeves has went through real hardcore firearms training and all scene are shot realistically with dummy bullets. Check out "Keanu Reeves Training with Taran" Clip. Awesome to see how good he is with weapons since his preparations for the John Wick franchise. I hold high respects to Keanu Reeves overall. He is known to be very gentle, paid the dressing crew and some assistants with his own share of money from matrix films, in order that they get a bit more out of their work. He also drives often with the subway and spends time with homeless people and supports a lot with his own money. He is an underrated actor who deserved to show off his acting talents once more in this fantastic John Wick franchise. keep those awesome reactions coming. kind regards!

33:54 Hey guys, the gun you're looking for is a Kel-Tec KSG. It is a bullpup-style pump-action shotgun (the action and magazine are located behind the trigger group), allowing for a shorter overall length without sacrificing barrel length. It has dual magazine tubes located under the barrel; each tube can hold different loads, allowing the shooter to quickly switch between ammunition types. Due to this capacity, depending on the shell size and length, it can hold up to 12+1 rounds (6 rounds in each tube).

There’s a video on KZbin that shows Keanu going through weapons training. His trainer said that Keanu exceeded his training. 6:41 Keanu lost someone he loved before. In 1999 he and his girlfriend lost a baby then two years later she dies in a car accident. He has that to draw on in that moment. 19:39 this is John’s “dinner reservation”. 40:12 he directed the knife to his previous stab wound so he could bring Viggo closer. 41:57 that dog was scheduled to be put down so he’s giving it a second chance along with himself.

The shotgun John used to shoot up Viggo's motorcade after escaping the church is a KSG-12, made by the company KelTec. It's a pump action, tube fed shotgun that is designed as a bullpup, meaning the feeding, firing and loading systems are built behind the trigger. KelTec is known for their unusual designs, which range from a select few that are good to many that are gimmicky to no avail. The KSG 12 is one of the former, as it's bullpup form factor gives it a compact size. But it also has two magazine tubes that can take seven shells of 12 guage shotgun loads each, giving it a total capacity of fourteen shots. For a shotgun of it's size, that's a fairly high capacity.

When someone dies and you live whether it be from injury or illness. Those that survive sometimes blame themselves for being the one that lives. It’s called survivors guilt. When you watch it again ( cause you will) pay attention to the lighting in the club scene. Blue lighting in the scenes indicates Johnson in his element, red is danger to John, and that wired purple when he was having the boss fight in the club is when it’s evenly matched. Subtle, but another great aspect of the film

The gun you were asking about is a Kel-Tec KSG it's a 12 Guage pump action bullpup shotgun with two mag tubes sitting side by side under the barrel. It's really slick by making it a bullpup. There are tons of small things in this movie to comment on, so I'll just mention two not commented on yet (I think). One, John's "Why her?" to the Dafoe character. An acknowledgement of his past of violence and death, why she was a loving, caring person. That's why Dafoe says 'don't blame yourself'. A whole philosophical argument right there. Then there's the subtle fact that except for the burial and flashbacks one only sees Wick's character in casual clothes, sweats, T-Shirt. When he puts the suit on afterwards it is liking wardrobing himself into his old life.

What you don't realize as you are watching this movie for the first time is that John is reload-accurate. ie if the weapon he is using has a mag with 12 rounds, he reloads at 12. Keanu trained to do accurate weapon handling with Taran Butler of Taran Tactical Innovations. It's the little things, like whenever John reloads a Kimber 1911 he does a press check because Kimbers are famous for misloads and he's checking to see if the first round loaded correctly, it's the only weapon that he does that with.

Personally, I’ve had a soft spot for Keanu ever since he first introduced us to the lovably goofy Ted Logan. Some people took up until _The Matrix_ to really take a liking to him, and up until _John Wick_ to take him seriously. Well, as they say, better late than never.

The doctor was the Keymaker and the security guy was the lead Agent who fought Keanu in the alley before he flew away like Superman and fought Morpheus on top of the 18-wheeler.

That Sniper shooting part while John was trying to get some rest, you must hv noticed that he ( Dafoe ) specfically aimed directly on john face;s , and if you look closely his hair flew a bit before the shot due to air direction, that deflected the bullet to the side. This shows how much of a skilled marksman Dafoe is. He exactly knows where his bullet will go.

Fun Fact: When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.

Keanu's been through some real Hell in his life. And it's so much worse because he's just such a good dude. I've never thought much of him as an actor, but there are a few roles where he's really shined. This is one of them, for a variety of reasons. Part of it, is his dedication to learning what he needed to know to be able to pull off what we see him do. But another part of it is that Keanu himself has experienced a lot of this degree of loss. The emotional pain we see this character go through is something Keanu has already been through. And I'm sure there was a certain amount of catharsis in him getting an opportunity to get some sort of indirect revenge for the loss he's suffered in his life.

Most popular imho is the one available with twin 18.5" barrels, in either 12ga. or .410ga. . Johns 12ga. capacity is 7 (+1 in chamber) of standard 2.75" shells per EACH of the two magazine tubes, or 6+1, 3" magnum shells.

I may be wrong, but I think John Wick wasn't a big hit in theaters. It was a small film that got word of mouth after it went to dvd. It was highly recommended on my Netflix suggestions list and I finally rented it, Tai Chi Man, and two other movies in which Reeves was a serial killer and the other, he was a husband who let two strange women into his house and all hell breaks loose. I ended up buying a copy of the first two, but not the second two because they weren't as good. Not bad but not enough to watch again unless there was nothing else on. Again, I'm not positive about it's popularity while in theaters, like Speed, Thw Matrix, and most of his other movies. No one I recommended it to had even heard of it until they watched it. But every single person loves this movie

I am not a fan of Keaunu. I have not seen him be a bad actor in ever. Not here, not in the Matrix. Not in Bill and Ted. Not in his Kellogs commercial. Not in Speed, Point Break, Replicas, Siberia, the later Matrix movies. I do not say the movies where great or even good, but you see he ALWAYS gave it all he had. Always. All the time. And when you then read what he does and how he behaves as a person, it goes from "great actor" to "This is on another level." I can not be a fan of him. Being a fan is just not good enough. It is lower than being a disciple, but it comes close.

MY wife died in 2010 of stage four cancer and then less than a week later her dog passed, I really felt the anguish when seeing this movie. I sure this was painful for Keanu as his lost his wife and daughter in 2001. Keanu is a consumate actor and person. He trained over 6 months for this film for fight sequences, over a year with shooting and is now a competitive 3 gun competition shooter( see Taran Tactical videos on KZbin). The director of this film was Keanu's stunt double in the Matrix and many of the stuntmen worked in the Matrix films too, so this film kind of became a reunion film.

You wanna know the craziest thing--this is a low budget movie ($30 million), but it was made by martial artists and stuntmen, so it launched one of the most successful action franchise in history. Also, it's NOT an action movie; it's a horror movie with the monster as the protagonist (ie. some dumb kids woke up the mob equivalent to Michael Myers and had to suffer the consequences).

To explain the cop's reaction, they know exactly who John Wick is and exactly what he does (or used to do). Hence Jimmy's "Uhh...you workin' again?" response to seeing the dead body. They also know that John's not going to hurt anyone without cause, so if there's dead guys in his house, they had it coming. They ALSO know they can't do a damned thing to stop him anyway, so it's better to keep themselves out of his crosshairs and leave him the hell alone unless they have no other choice.

Keep in mind Keanu's baby died, girlfriend and mother murdered...this really happened in his life. He trains for his role very very seriously and does most of the stunt himself at the age of 50+ and i can only assume his dedication has to do with what his revenge would look like. His life behind the scenes has been awful. I just had the feeling to mention this.
