After first hearing this piece in 1995, I tell you honestly, I became obsessed with this piece....maybe because I'm a clarinetist. Not a day goes by when I don't hum the flight music. A great example of gorgeous, colorful orchestration. The piccolo part is something I can't get put of my head!

Such an uplifting piece of music. Hook is one of favorite films not just from childhood but from adulthood as well. Listening to a soundtrack like this and seeing all the individual instruments making one piece of music, is like looking at a painting close up and seeing all the individual brush strokes.

No...MY John Williams. Jk. Great to hear of your appreciation for this work. Williams extracted the tune not only from the somewhat trite trailer music, but from the score itself. He fleshed-out the work adding a concert ending in tandem. The issued-in-octaves bah dah, bah dah, bee dah dah dh duhhh..in both the trumpets and trombones is unforgettable. So glad to know others appreciate this piece. You can have him one day, but I get him the next...deal? Blessing upon you, man.

It went against Beauty and the Beast from Alan Menken, equally as talented as M. Williams. Even though this piece is beautiful, I believe B&B was superior and quite a revolution in the animation industry.

The whole movie is an underestimated gem. Never understood the whole wave of criticism. It has got this charming, yet mature storytelling Spielberg mastered, just like in case of A.I.
@Martyprod28 жыл бұрын
you're right ! Hook is, despite all the criticism, a very beautiful movie, and i never understood them, same with A.I, they are part of my favorite spielberg movie. it's one of the best williams soundtrack I did the transcription of the WHOLE soundtrack, before knowing that a songbook was out there lol... anyway, this year, Alan menken completly deserved his oscars, from the Score to the song one as well ! the criticism has not only been about Hook, his quality etc.. but the reverse too "why williams didn't get the oscar (well after 45 nominations ,and only 5 wons we start to be used to it lol)" but as well about "does menken deserve his 8 oscars, which is more than what williams got ?". well, the question is badly asked. i saw so many this line here and there during the last 25 years.. Menken completly deserve Each oscar he got. the problem about williams and the academy is more about the other oscars that didn't go to Williams :). it's the academy awful taste in music most of the time, not menken fault in anyway. Beauty and the beast and the little mermaid, not only saved disney, but put on track a genre which was not there and like you said, made a revolution in the animation industry ... the animated musical ! sure there were songs in the past in disney movies, but not at this point and not as a musical. but i admit i'm not completly objective in my comment, i'm not only an huge williams fan, but as well, a crazy fan of menken... kzbin.info/www/bejne/npbcf3mJntyCq5o
@Martyprod28 жыл бұрын
i completly agree with you. from what i understood about hook, well, the criticism are kind of the same and at the same time the reverse for A.I. it only proove that the only opinion to be followed is ours, and they are mostly ok for us, can't be applied to others. not only speaking that press critics are just *** censored ***. Hook, "too much disney" A.I "too much spielberg" lol... "Spielberg killed Kubrick" "the end is awful, here is E.T Again" (nobody back then understood it, and spielberg had to explain the "end"...) "the end is soooooo spielberg, and killed the movie, it's not kubrick !." most of A.I criticism came from Kubrick's fan boys... not sure about that, but it's the only movie where spielberg did a presentation to explain what's happened... he didn't had to do it for movies like Munich, but he had to do it for A.I ! i have often been insulted by telling this but A.I is in my 5 favorite Williams soundtrack and my favorite Spielberg movie. (i could tell 1 but too much insult in the past, so i tell 5 now ;)). like telling that indiana jones III was my favorite indiana jones movie...

I've been infatuated with John Williams ever since seeing "Jaws"- in the theater - at least 5 times! ( On a technical note, is there any way to boost the volume? All I have is a smartphone...)
@Martyprod25 жыл бұрын
Unfortunatly i didn't normalized the sound of the file when i uploaded it back then (that's mean it will boost the sound of the original soundtrack at it maximum without making distorsion). Check in your video player of your smartphone (you have an android or an iphone ?) if there is an EQ, something which can modify the volume and frequencies of the sound of what you play. if there is no such an option, There is one in other video player, like VLC etc (which are available for smartphone too). they have such an option in the player. you'll see then, that in the EQ you can normalize or boost the sound, by for example, adding more Db or put some frequencies louder.

Hi, thanks for telling it to me !! Nobody told it before, and that with 121 000 views :( i couldn't guess it, why ? this video has been uploaded at a time where i couldn't listen to music (still can't but i can listen a bit to it sometimes (weird hearing disorder), so i never could listen to 90% of the videos i uploaded on this account, and for some of them, it can have some issues. usually it's checked by a friend of mine, but he maybe didn't noticed it at this time. this is something very easy to fix, i'm planning with time and depending of my healt to upscale in Full HD (Alrready did it for some videos), so when i'll do it for this one, i'll fix the sync issue, i'll put a noticed on the project folder. thanks for reporting the issue !
