Thanks for the video, it helped me with my install - I think you missed a step though for mounting the breather filter - the extra plastic washer looks like it's for the hole on the breather filter to make it flush so that you can mount it on the 10mm bolt hole on the other side of the frame like the picture on the MNNTHBX site.
@John5XR5 жыл бұрын
You’re 110% correct about the breather not being in the right spot, and the spacer being for it and not the bracket like I used it for. I wanted my breather hidden and is why I kept it that way, but the way MNNTHBX designed it, is how you say. Thanks for pointing this out!

On a carburerated bike when you replace the mufflers and airbox, it's standard procedure to re-jet the carbs... What did you have to do, or adjust with this upgrade. Was there any remapping or electronic adjustments to make it run correctly ?

WARNING! 16:15 This larger tube is NOT a gas tank vent. It is the refueling overflow tube. When your refueling and the tank is over filled or if gas is spilled around the cap area it drains down a hole next to the opening and down this tube instead of over the sides of the tank. This tube is held in place by a split tube on the left side of the stock air box so that spilled fuel can drip to the ground. It does not go into the inside of the air box. This overflow tube should be routed down the side of the cylinder toward the ground. The fuel tank vent tube goes to the evap. can system and is not effected by this intake change. Not allowing this overflow tube to drain to the ground could be a FIRE HAZARD.

@@John5XR Awesome thanks. Also a side note - the airbox will come out easier if you remove the front cover first as far as I have seen, vs. removing it complete as the fender will get in the way more. My kit is on order, I think I will be wrapping the silicon tube in some kind of race tape to hide it away more and then possibly look at making some custom side covers to hide some of the less amazing looking hoses that the Air box would normally cover up. I am going to link to this video on my site as a how two one I get it installed and do the site post. So maybe a few more views for you.

I think sensor being mounted externally is a design flaw, it is not measuring the true air temp going through the intake pipe
@John5XR5 жыл бұрын
I’m not in love with the sensor being externally mounted either, but also don’t feel there is a difference in temp between outside the pipe and inside. The intake is drawing in the same outside air as the sensor is reading

Does your bike have a fuel controller? These bikes can run lean with an intake and exhaust. Also be sure to oil the filter for an extra layer of protection against dust and debris. I also wouldn’t recommend riding through water or in the rain because as I’m sure you know water and engines don’t mix 😂. Great video as always
@John5XR5 жыл бұрын
Yes sir! Check out my Bazzaz video to see the fuel controller I am using. It’s definitely not cheap and crappy, and the Monkey is tough to work with on intakes as there is A LOT going on beneath that tank for the fuel injection/throttle body system. @@John5XR Do you think it can put too much pressure on that small engine and wear it out prematurely?
@John5XR5 жыл бұрын
It won't add power in great measure enough to cause an issue. The nature of intakes are to achieve more airflow, which will lean the air/fuel mixture and with that, might cause the engine to run hotter (not much). The only chance for premature wear would be piston rings, and it would take YEARS at that. I have 1970 Trail 70's with original pistons and rings that have had ill carb tuning for the last 30-years and they still run fine. Also, this isn't a death sentence for a Monkey. I replaced the piston and rings on my Grom for less than $75. The work took less than an hour.
