Up until a few months ago, I struggled so heavily with lust and porn. I would pray to God to help me not want it each time, but I still struggled. It was a few months ago that just as John described, I made the decision that I was done and was giving it completely to God and He took it away. There was a small part of me that still liked it, but once I decided to crucify my flesh, it was gone. It is definitely crucial to get yourself in His Word. Praise God!

Recently, there was a particular sin that I was struggling with also, and God spoke to me through his word and the scripture he gave me said (tremble and do not sin) I took that word to heart and day after day, reminded myself to tremble, but also not to send in this particular way, it has been extremely helpful, I think it is so important for believers that we never disregard the fear of the Lord

How can you make yourself not like your sin? To me it’s falling in love with Jesus and it’s not wanting to hurt who you love, but there is times sin feels so powerful, and that’s when you need to know and say Lord I cant but you can because all Victory is yours because of what you have done and Then as your focus is on Jesus ( who he is & what he has done) the supernatural power of the Holyspirit goes to work. So then the power of sin is powerless. Then changes begins Total dependence A true born believer hate sin and hate when they sin. They want to repent quickly. (Not by obligation)

Thank you I’ve been called a devil and I’ve seen other people be called devils (For some reason, I’ve noticed that’s a common practice with the hyper grace movement) for saying that we must repent, Walk by the spirit, do good works prepared for us, bear fruit, be sanctified, having faith that is alive resulting in good works (all with the help of the Holy Spirt, Jesus, and the Father). They are accusing anyone saying that, of works based salvation even if we say we do not earn our salvation by our good works but we if we have true and alive faith, it must result in changes and good works.

Until we meet with our heavenly father and receive new glorified bodies, we all remain sinful. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow... All fall short of the glory of God. we are all sinful by nature, but we can also choose to be filled by the grace of God. Only Jesus can blot out our sins. Justified through Jesus and Him alone, His work on the cross. Until we meet with Jesus, we will never be sinless.

Exactly! The more I listen to this guy, the more he is putting a yolk and a burden on the shoulders of fellow believers to make them think that because they’re saved, they must never sin again when the reality is that our sin nature, as long as we are stuck in these sin filled bodies, sin will still be there. But our salvation upon believing that Christ died, and rose again for our sins/ for us, is the only prerequisite for obtaining and retaining permanently, our salvation in Christ.

The “because you still like it” part of the cigarette story really convicts me. I feel that way with a lot of the sin I’m still slave to till this day. How can we not like it? Is the answer to fill ourselves with the word until the desire goes away? This is something I struggle with everyday..
@8peacemedia4927 күн бұрын
I do think getting the word is important. Real freedom comes when we uncover the ugliness of specific sin according to the word. For example, most of us enjoy physical pleasure, but if we examine the root (1 John 2:15 -16 NLT) and what the word says is the outcome (Romans 6:19 NLT) it doesn’t have the same lure. The more you dig into the truth the more you recognize it is the same sin that enslaves the people who abuse, devour, and do all kinds of detestable things to the most vulnerable among us. It’s the same master. You no longer want to lend your body to anything that opposes God. The words we pray start to change, our desperation for freedom changes, and ultimately our heart (out of it flows the issues of life) is sincere because we began to understand this thing we loved or enjoyed poisoned us into delusion. So we thought something was good but really it just messed up our tastebuds for God. “Every good and perfect gift comes from Him” if it ain’t from Him, is it really good? Hope this helps

John - I love you, and the sharp, powerful, teaching ministry you do ❤.. God has used you to reshape “The fear of God” for me in the context of His immutable holy nature (vs) my actions that can separate me from Him as “The wholistic, healthy Fear” I can/should nurture with the Word+Holy Spirit’s help. Just want to point out the section in 25:35 mts where you say “We need to cleanse ourselves, and that the blood is for ‘Salvation’, and is not for ‘Sanctification’. However -I’m reading scriptures which indicate that is not entirely the case knowing that 1 John 1:7 says - “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Now John is writing this to church believers - and in no way means we can continue doing evil, but need to actively submit to the Holy Spirit to help us in our weaknesses, putting faith in action, & renewing our mind to do God’s holy will. But the blood of Jesus is also essential for active sanctification - as His blood stands as a testament for ever before Holy God as in “Hebrews 9:14 - How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” Christ offered Himself once (v:25,26) and entered the Holy of Holies with His own blood, and He does not offer it again. However, I see you also agree sanctification is progressive surrender to the inner-working of the Spirit who manifests the Holy nature of God from within us. But in the journey when we stumble, (or are defiled due to the world’s pollution) we have Christ as an advocate with the Father who is the atoning sacrifice if we sin as per 1 John 2:1&2. John is Not encouraging us to sin, but asking us to respond to Christ’s love and Not sin by grace’s help. So the blood is essential every time I stumble, or feel I’d stumble to remind myself of the Atonement, my Cleansing, and my Sanctification by obedience to Holy Spirit and His Word. Eager to hear the wise-man’s thoughts which my wife, and I feed-on on a regular basis from India. Again - Love you John!

I believe it was David Diga Hernandez. Fall into sin, get back up, two weeks later fall back, etc. In my experience it was like a diet. Eating healthy. The ox eating healthy grass with a little poisonous weeds infiltrated my theology (man's wisdom sensual). After a couple of weeks the lie: God knows your weakness, you are a man. You deserve this. You have been good all this time. You are not a really bad guy. The demonic temptation roses I smelled. Starting to smell good and enticing. You are a man after all. The devil could set me up earlier so I can't wait to get alone with my sin. Then regret, I am sorry, won't do it again. Two weeks later I can smell the rose with his partners justify and the (I can't wait) music. The devil can give you (not speaking curses) the feelings to line up with the lies. David said it was wrong believing. I said in my heart well I deserve my sin like a cigarette once in a while. God understands. David basically said it must be cut from the root. I say this with all due respect. I have been a smoker for over 30 years. I had a heart attack when I was 34 and had to have a stent placed. I continued to smoke and still do to this day, even with the health issues. I have prayed and prayed and prayed to God to deliver me. I cannot do it myself, obviously. I NEED for Him to deliver me. If I didn't still crave cigarettes like crazy, I wouldn't NEED Him to deliver me!! That's the whole struggle! The struggle for people is that they can't stop the insane craving for whatever it is that they struggle with. That's part of what drives people to their knees in prayer. The fact that nothing is different after prayer. Which is why u always hear people say that they have tried and tried to quit this or quit that. They WANT to be free. I wish I didn't feel this way but I am really starting to believe that God picks who He wants to help. There are ones that are chosen and the rest simply aren't. I truly wish that I didn't feel that way because it tears me up inside but it sure does appear to be the way things are.

I understand the meat of what your saying, but maybe you can come to an understanding that no matter the desires we have chased after, God had never condemned us based on those choices. Hey friend, my heart when out to you in hearing your struggle. From what i can discern from what you are saying i truly believe you don't like smoking. I think your experience is different than the example that John gave of his friend. Addictive substances are a powerful thing. But one thing i hope to encourage you in is that even though what you have experienced is real and has greatly affected you, I want to emphasize that God sent Jesus to die and spill his blood for your cleansing as much as he has done it for the smoker who was set free. A lie from the enemy may have slipped in that God isnt going to help you like he has others. I want to emphasize that the very reason Jesus was manifested was to take away our sin. (1 John 3:5) Jesus died to take away your sin, not just cover it. I'm not sure if you have ever done this but its so important to align your belief system with the reality that, on the cross, Jesus became your addiction to smoking and he put it to death. and you died with him and were raised with him in newness of life. Though it sounds strange to say it like this; you are not someone who has a smoking problem. You are a child of the kingdom of God and the addictive tendencies of the flesh pale in comparison to the power of Jesus who is alive inside you. I understand you may still be smoking even at this moment. But you are loved, your are forgiven, and in Christ you are free. He's given you everything you need. Believing it may be the last thing you have to do to see this freedom manifested in your life. The love of Jesus is over you. The power of sin is broken. "sin will have no dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace" Rom 6 I'm hoping this could be of some encouragement to you. Be blessed Child of God

@@bluefannypack1501 Focus on the teachings of Jesus And if you haven't watched a video that's just "the commands of Jesus" that really helps me, and a steady podcast like Christian Questions. Of course the Bible is most important. Some biblical things that may shed light and work directly from the Bible are usually good Rest well, have the Armor of God on at all times.

In other words, if you receive the grace of God in vain, there's no way you'll end up knowing for sure that you are saved is what I understand by this. Because sin still has the power and the right to take your soul to hell if you are in bondage, but through the grace of God we can live above it and conquer our old sinful nature.

Believers Believe. When Jesus said "It is Finished". He did just that. We are saved by grace because the LORD is merciful. Have faith that whatever you struggle with it has already been overcome. Pray and Stay. Stay in the Word. Pray for it to be done to glorify him only. Share with other believers to strengthen you, for his glory only and always to be a better servant to him.

Can you do a video on perfection, and how close to perfection we need to be? This has always been a confusing topic for me
@nicki88698 күн бұрын
We all fall short and need God's grace. He gets all the glory. There is not such thing as sinless perfection or we have to become a certain level of perfection. We trust in the Lord and in the finished work of the cross. Look at Him. Not yourself. He is doing the good work in you. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. He took our sins and inputed His righteousness onto us. Praise God. He gets all the glory. Salvation is of the Lord. Just trust Him and let Him change you by reading His Word. God bless you

Sin isn't all the same either. Different consequences from different sins. Smoking won't send you backsliding, but sexual sin will.

Smoking can shorten the days God has originally planned for your life and the work He has called you to do as well as your rewards.

@paulaschumacher5489 Totally! I used to smoke. It won't send you to hell but it's a danger

@@Cnhurley123Hurleydepends, in my opinion, for me, if smoking is lessening your dwelling in God and the word, then it very well may be a form of idolatry, there is a line, yes, just like alcohol, but I can be quite bad besides the dangers

Sin is sin
@Cnhurley123Hurley11 күн бұрын
@@cindyalvarez4157 While it's true that sin is sin, most people that say that often are looking for an excuse for their sin. The bible does differentiate sexual sin from other sins. Smoking is still sin, but try smoking, and try sex outside of God's will. I've done both, and there were far reaching different consequences. There is truth in saying "sin is sin", but it's not the whole story. Some things will disqualify you from even getting into heaven. Some things HAVE to be dealt with by the time you die. God showed me this, I'm not speaking out of my rear end, or my opinions.

I think also you are holding something meaningfull for salvation, is just not repentance, it doesn’t stop there, you need to be baptized in the name of Jesus and call his name upon your soul as peter said it in act 2:38

How will one get free from sin if 99% of the church preaches the opposite and disagrees with this teaching there’s a reason why the Bible says in Matthew 7:14 “narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Can you explain more about the "how"? I just don't understand very well. I have submitted to Jesus and turned away from sin. But how do I make myself not like some things? Is it as simple as how much time I spend seeking Him? I could listen to a whole hour long teaching on specifically how to be free from sin. I must be missing something :(

You Cleans yourself by Repenting and getting Baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. To say you receive or accept his word is not found in the bible. Is basically by hearing the good news and realizing God Truth is Real and beholds the Judgment of you. The Father puts conviction and the desire to repent therefore you understand the Fathers will, because he loves us so much.🎉

So . If we have a true born again believer and that Christian is struggling with a sin ‘ say smoking’ if that Christian dies unrepentant of that sin is he going to miss heaven? I already know the answer, I’d like to hear y’all’s answer. Anyone?
@Iusedtojustbesomebody12 күн бұрын
I think it's about faith and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I'll just throw a couple Scripture in Proverbs 14:10 (personal) Matthew 7:21 (relationship)
@sarah-d6e1e10 күн бұрын
No, you don’t miss heaven if you are truly saved. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are saved, and all our sins-past, present, and future-are forgiven, as stated in Hebrews. If we sin, there may be consequences in this life; for example, smoking can harm your health and even lead to serious illnesses like lung cancer. However, your salvation is secure, and you will not end up in hell because salvation is based on Christ’s finished work, not our perfection. Even if we struggle with repentance in certain areas, our salvation remains intact because it is rooted in God’s grace, not our actions.

some tips: without vision ppl perish, get a godly vision for your life. Renew your mind, set your mind on things above, not on things below sin is like fast food/ junk food. May seem good in the moment, but is harmful and messes you up long term

May I ask what you want to stop liking, it can differ a lot depending on what it is, atleast if you want direct advice

@ i like to use cannabis but I like it too much and I feel convicted about it. That I use too much, that I basically idolize it over God bc I “need” it.
