Back in 1978, I was so impressed with the music of Kansas after seeing them perform in December of 1977 at Indianapolis, and then afterwards buying and 'wearing out' both their 'Leftoverture' & "Point of Know Return" albums, I started praying for them. Then, some time later, I saw a newspaper article with the title, "Rock Musician becomes a Christian", so obviously I had to read it. Afterwards, I was so blessed to realize that Kerry and Dave were converted, and that God had heard me and used my intercessory prayers for them. Then next, I witnessed the result of that conversion in, not only the songs that followed (i.e. "Relentless" and "Crossfire"), but also in their appearance and stage presence when I saw them again the second time. For example, Kerry had a shorter haircut and was very calm and reserved on stage....I mean his whole demeanor was different (and I knew WHY)!!! But, today, I heard Kerry say in a previous KZbin video interview (in this series) that now Phil is a devoted Christian!! YES!! Thank God for the power of prayer!! Anyway....I could go on and on about this subject (really, I could), but that would take up more time than what most people could afford to spend reading KZbin posts :-) !! KANSAS ~ #1 progressive rock band of all time (IMHO) !!!!!

Great interview. One thing though. Somewhere to Elsewhere was not mentioned at all or hardly. But it was the album where the line-up of Kansas was like that of the great earlier albums. And it is a great album. I would also be curious about what Kerry thinks of the latest two albums of Kansas, The Prelude Implicit, in my opinion, maybe the best album ever made by Kansas and The Absence of Presence. But thanks for sharing this. And great to see Kerry a lot better again after what he has gone through. Most definitely Kansas and AD are on my all time favorite bands list.

THANK YOU, John Bowes, for the immeasurable wealth of hearing the Truth from Kerry!! It is all beautiful, but for some reason, I'm particularly touched by what Kerry witnessed with Freddie Mercury ( being truly tested by Dave Hope, LOL!), and Kerry's loving conclusion about Freddie.

I could probably listen all day to Kerry’s meetings and interactions with other touring musicians. “Nothing lasts forever, but , the earth and sky “. I personally don’t find that line discouraging or contradictory to the Christian message. At the time of it’s release. Many Rock fans , myself included, were listening to mostly superficial lyrics about sex and politics etc. Things that reflected living for our youthful desires. Living for today. That profound lyric led one to contemplate one’s future. If the physical world was all one was investing in it was futile and incomplete. It leads many to feel like there’s more. Purpose. The answer is faith in more than the dead end of decomposition and dust. CREATOR and SPIRIT.

Fantastic, I buy like 2 to 4 books per month whilst Kerry would buy an album a day. Greetings brother John. I am in contact with Ed Kearn.

I agree completely! Isn't it funny how differently artists perceive their own music, as opposed to their fans? For instance, my favorite tune of ALL TIME is "Lakeside Park", by Rush, yet Geddy has said numerous times how much he hates that song! Makes one wonder what their ORIGINAL intend was!....

The club in Emporia, Kansas that Kerry referenced where he saw the Yardbirds was called "Renfros". I believe this was in 1965. I was too young to get into the club or I would have been there as well.

Totally disagree about "Curtain Of Iron" .. yeah I know its his song etc. but I think that intro sets up the mood for the rest of the song. Great Interview.
