The Andor series being so competent, effective, and high quality makes the failures of Fett and Kenobi even more apparent than they were before. And more flagrant in comparison. Andor makes me wonder where the adults in the room were when writing and directing those shows.

@@wahn10 We have to hand it to Disney for already greenlighting Andor for season 2. While realizing their 2 shows starring more followed much more marketable characters like Fett and Kenobi may have been one and done. Can't say if it was due to their poor reception or not. Thinking back to the scene in Mandalorian season 2 where bill burr had that awesome scene with the imperial officer. That was one performance. Andor so far has just been dozens upon dozens of such performances on that caliber. Andy serkis and stellan skarsgard steal the show in this episode but even that one scene with mon mothma where you see her reacting to the terms of the 'deal' with that guy and how he was going to set up his son with her daughter, the nuances in her facial expressions even after the dialogue was over spoke so much volumes

It's very easy to sacrifice something you don't have (love, family, etc), it's easy to use people as pawns for the "greater good" when it's not your daughter, mother, sister, wife. He was never married because he didn't have to do that, and yet he is asking from other people to do exactly that. And also he is acting as the emperor himself.. disagree on rogue 1. we DID get background on characters. Chirrut and Baze were weary guardians of the whills who had lost their purpose who could join the pushback, jyn we knew, cassian had been in the fight from an early age and was battle weary, the pilot Bodhi knew his time was up when he defected. Did we need more than that? For a team that came together to pull off a heist we just needed to see their motivations. Which we did and each of their knowledge and expertise was used to pull it off. Their deaths were not in vain. Brilliant story telling, as we are getting in Andor. You've allowed the hatemongers to infect your judgement.

It's proof that the whole, "I don't like the new stuff as much as the old stuff" has been happening as far back as '83. And if we're being honest, it happened in '81 with Empire. People now want to act like they always knew Empire Strikes Back was the best Star Wars film, but for a long time, the general consensus was that Empire was the least good of the three original films by the large majority of fans. It wasn't until years later it got the groundswell appreciation as the best film in the trilogy. That's why I just chuckle when I'm seeing the Prequel/TCW generation now growing up and looking at all the new stuff and saying, "Not my Star Wars!" I'd figure they of all people would realize the irony since they faced the brunt of that themselves with people hating on the Prequels. I'm not saying everything new has to be your favorite, you're allowed to dislike things. But these doom and gloom sentiments from people acting like "Star Wars is dead!", it's just silly. The cycle has happened before you, it will happen after you. The best thing you can do is jump off that treadmill and just have fun where you can. Enjoy what you can enjoy. And the things you don't? Just move past it because chances are there's a 8 year old kid right now who absolutely loves the hell out of it. One can only hope in 20 or so years, those kids don't repeat the same cycle again.

This was during the early 90's and this was my first experience as just this wide eyed naive kid, "Oh... people can hate Star Wars?" Kinda reminds me of today as there's so many grown adults nowadays screaming on Twitter and Facebook, KZbin comments, etc, about how Disney is ruining Star Wars and how this is bad, and that is bad, and all I can think of is this innocent kid who just loves Star Wars coming across such vitriol. My only complaint about Andor is that there isn't enough aliens or droids. This universe is filled with aliens and droids. They should at least be one alien and one droid as characters. One at least.
@alexanderp70832 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, I'm glad the aliens and droids are background characters for this show. Look, most SW series' can't make serious aliens in live action. This show is serious. Gilroy himself has said in an interview today that he'd struggle to put aliens in a main role without it coming off goofy. Here's the excerpt: Gilroy in an interview: There’s already so much politics in the show to begin with, and we’re trying to tell an adventure story, really. So adding strong alien characters means that all of a sudden, there’s a whole bunch of new issues that we have to deal with that I don’t really understand that well or I just couldn’t think of a way to bake them into what we’re doing. You’ll see more as we go along, but it’s a legit question and one we’ll be answering as we go along. There is a more human-centric side of the story and the politics of it. There’s certainly no aliens working for the Empire, so that kind of tips it one way, automatically.

Are the guards good people? It's not like they don't know what's going on inside the prison. They're standing by and watching people getting torture and worked to death. I really wanted Vader to be the one to kill all the heroes in Rogue One. In the final act, it would look like the heroes were going to escape with the Death Star plans on a ship but right as the door is about to close, Vader steps through, and he immediately cuts down Chirrut, the person most connected to the Force and the most skilled fighter.
