After he is done with that he might have earned enough more Hollywood cred & good will to maybe direct a "smaller" sequel to Furiosa's story showing either an old Charlize Theorn playing Furiosa or just an older actress. A Furiosa at the end of her life's story might be an interesting story and trilogy. I think this could set the stage for an interesting prequel series pitting Tony Leung's Wenwu v Esposito's Orson Randall. And then moving forward you could have Esposito be a Stick-type character for Iron Fist, Daredevil, Shang-Chi, etc and an opposition for Xu Xialing's(Shang-Chi's sister) version of the Ten Rings.

John needs to think about this Indiewire report's line "A new poll by HarrisX, exclusive to IndieWire, found that 34 percent of U.S. adults prefer to watch movies in theaters, which means a solid two-thirds would rather wait for them to be released on streaming." Economic factors aside, 66% of US adults can wait for a movie to hit streaming (or VOD) so the consumption model has changed and it won't go back. Let's just be honest, for the general public, if movie theater's close it won't affect them directly because they will be accustomed random movies on streaming platforms.
@bajansamurai5 ай бұрын
There are caveats to that though. 66% of people are OK waiting for movies on streaming partially because the release windows have gotten so short. Half the pressure to catch anything in theaters is gone because 80% of them will be out soon. Pandemic also taught people to accept longer times without movies too, as well as to have a slight feeling of riskiness about being in a public, closed space for 2-3 hours. The truly big event films will always be the exceptions that feel like people will turn out in big numbers.
@vladimirjak89715 ай бұрын
@@bajansamurai While that is true that people will turn out for big events, that is actually counter productive for the theaters. If movie audiences only show up for "big budget event films" then that means the theaters cannot survive off of smaller, non-indie films, thus creating more reason to only operate for a certain amount of time because why would you risk being open during a non-event period, opening the doors during that time will cost more money than you bring in.
@bajansamurai5 ай бұрын
@@vladimirjak8971 Completely true. Big events aren't enough to prop up the industry. Mid level and small movies will do better if they go back to longer windows between theatrical and streaming, and now that they're changing up the streaming some, even streaming will do better if there's more fanfare around the movies that eventually make it in.

Monarch was hit and miss for me. I love the fact that the creators of the show wanted to make it more of a human story. It just sucks that some of the humans were just not as interesting. And also making really stupid decisions. And the show would sometimes deviate from the main plot with really poorly paced background episodes for certain characters, but when the focus came back to Monarch and the human perspective within monarch. Specifically with the past sequences, which were the best for the human core to the story it was just a pleasure to get on top of that the monster CGI action fest so I’m excited for season two but still a little hesitant when it comes to some of the human characters

If they get Blade off the ground, it better be damn worth the long long LOOOONNNG wait, because if it fails ... that's more goodwill lost from MCU fans. It should have been 3 years which is the basic production timeline for any average film from script to screen. And yes, it's even normal for Marvels films. 5 years to even get a script everybody can agree on?! If Ali terminates his contract at this point, I wouldn't blame him, but also .... holy crap, what is going on in the writers room concerning Blade? My speculation is that they want badly to tie him into the already established universe, and they don't quite have the formula of how to do it cracked yet....but even so .... 5 years to figure that out and in just as many directors and rewrites? The writers really need to get on the same page, and hopefully they do, or they already have, but if Mahershala is wanting to exit, I wouldn't blame him especially when it's been stalled this many times from when the announcement was made that he got hired. At this point, I just hope the movies decent, no matter who plays the Daywalker. I was excited in the beginning, now I'm just like, "If we see a trailer in 2 more years, I'll check it out." I'm a ride or die MCU fan, and even I'm sick of the Blade speedbumps, lol. Hopefully, this is the final rewrite, and we'll have some actual lensing on Blade soon (2years minimum).
