The biggest thing is that the game is designed in such a way that people refer to playing it as homework or work. Gaming is supposed to be relief from stress and relief from work (if you're old enough to have a job anyway). After awhile, LoA doesn't feel like a game anymore; party Finder issues, cost of progression and variance between the uber lucky and uber unlucky. None of that is 'gaming' to me. Lost Ark is a great game, once you can get into raids and actually play the game. Everything about its progression and FFS the gatekeeping culture brought on by the design of the raids; is what causes the burnout. I think people need to come to terms with a few things; 1. LoA was always going to be a Niche game for a very specific audience 2. You really don't need to maximize gold as long as you accept you aren't doing HM content on release 3. Every system is designed to take time or you swipe, that is their funding source and 4. TREAT IT LIKE A GAME. If you're feeling burnt out, leave. Take a break. At the end of the day, no amount of "just create your own lobby" or any other excuse veterans have, if you don't have a static, this game just ain't it. That is not a bad thing at all! It just means, it is a very niche game. Not many, if any, new players will ever stick around long enough to get to end game anyway. Folks need to figure out that they need to treat others well. Cuz if you gatekeep now, and the population continues to diminish and your own static blows up ... who's to say the person you had a grudge with is the literal gatekeeper of potential groups you fall into? That's where LoA is headed. Just like Tera was at the end; everyone knew every single person that played.

First time seeing this steamer, but as someone that has 5k hours and quit the game (a few times) I have to say you're insanely based. I agree with everything. I quit the game not because I didn't like it, but it just became unsustainable, and I just couldn't ignore the issues anymore. Ags/sg needs to do *something*, but somehow they don't seem to care. Not sure if this is because kr doesn't have these issues

@@johnpaltv I'll keep watching your stuff. If they can fix some of the pain points where I can have a life and get to play without feeling like it's a chore (grinding in an mmo is fine, but this is ridiculous atm), then I'd be more than happy to come back

When I was new (in August) busses where actually making me so mad to see bc I was sitting in pf forever watching these busses fill over n over hahah felt like I was competing n had no chance to win. I made it thru tho jus needed some patience but I hope they do something one day

The problem with catch up mechanics in this game is the raids and the game mechanics are too hard/compicated for the average new player. They get avoided like the plague. No one wants to spend a ton of time in reclears and that goes back to the 3 raids and 6 characters. But even if there wasnt people stll wouldnt want to. And part of that complication is that they are learning 3 raids at once(if not more), learning a guardian raids, learning all the different vertical progression systems. Alot of what you are talking about isnt even about the damage. Its about people showing that they have put more effort in and therefore are more likely to know the raid and not mess up. Akkan was also a weird spot in terms of progression. Getting to 1580 was pretty easy since alot of people were 1580 for Kayangel. Yes it was decently expensive, but you had lots of time to get there. Getting to 1600 was waaaaaay harder than it was to get to 1580. Thats why KR complained about it. Even the people who were daily grinders had to swipe to make HM and they wanted to be rewarded for doing so, not just more mats. Overall that whole thing hurt the game with the way rewards are in Volids and Thaemine.

I quit this game shortly after Akkan release because I failed to cut a 7/7, 8/6 or 9/5 stone after spending close to a thousand pheon. I also started playing the game like 3 months before that. As a new player, struggle is just too real. Roster level is a massive pain in the ass. Pugging things is just ... a nightmare. I tryharded so much, farmed 90 souls, 40+ maps and other things. My compass and charm were relic quality lol. Yes, in 3 months! I played super hardcore coz game was very fun. I even farmed LOS18 by doing the dreaded card runs with 5 alts + p2w'd for the card packs ... sadly once Akkan got released I got heavily gatekept as a reflux sorc, which destroyed my will to continue playing.

You burn yourself out , i'm playing close to 10 month , just got my legendary compass and finished akkan lerning , so enjoying the game.

@@s.a4034 I've quit a couple months ago. I didn't burn myself out, I just gave up on the game. Gatekeeping is just too ruthless and raids in general are very stressful. Farming Vykas for the card set is just ... no, thanks

@@s.a4034 I had a lot of free time. My friend invited me to play the game and I really enjoyed it. I just wanted to catch up and I had no issues with the grind. It was, objectively speaking, fun. It is too bad that my expectations got absolutely shattered when Akkan got released. At this point I just couldn't take it anymore. I played the wrong class and rerolling was too expensive. I did not want to p2w either. Card packs alone already felt excessive but at the same time pretty much mandatory. P2W for the honing mats ... that is too much

Got tired of getting gate kept after coming back without cards, roster lvl, etc. The player base will not let you play with them without this stuff. I’m 1540 getting denied valtan hard because I don’t have more than 8%dmg from deep dive. So I bought an account and now I get to play, feels bad to have to do it but I helped an SA rice farmer pay bills so W/E. Like it or not if I didn’t do that I wouldn’t play the game.

Hot take Make Character Bound mats > Roster Bound it will incentivise a lot more to play alts yes BUT once you start cranking up the mats making a new alt will be far easier than before now the problem with this is that they make a shitton of money from whales on new class releases bcz they have to buy shards and leaps and shit so this will significantly impact their $ generation

Smile gate seems to be all about a buck tho so sadly it's unlikely. Even just being able to like bag and send honor shards through your own account would be huge.

Theomine was the worst raid ever released for the wrong reasons. Normal mode is challenging for pugs, but doable. Yet the transcendence is roughly 6 months and still requires a bus for hard mode clear to get transcendence unlocked. If SG pulled their head out of their ass and eliminated that HM requirement it would allow people to grow their characters with normal mode and then do Echidna normal without worry on dps. Elixir similar system, but a lot of gold fixes that via buyable legendary elixir. When echidna releases the NA/EU version will have >1 year of time cut from release schedule compared to Korea since Brel Hard was released for each version. Brutal speed with very little tweaking of resource gain.

I feel legendary elixirs should be available from normal along with other fixes to make the system less painful. Full transcendence should be able on normal, just less dark fires going out. That'd be great! Thanks for the feedback!
