Got the first gen PS4 when it first came out. Eventually buying a remote storage for it. I've always ran a box fan near it to keep it cool. I've never heard the internal fan at full rpm. Ive cleaned it internally only a couple times. It still works as it did when I got it in 13.

Wow, I had no idea about the zoom function, the pad reset nor the turning off vibration on the system level. I hate vibration and some games don't have the option of turning them off and it is also annoying to change every game setting to off. This is an amazing tip. Thank you. Probably not. May be some dirt and grime in your analog sticks. You would have to tear down your Controller and open the 2 latches of the analgo stick. This could need some cleaning. Did tha myself several times and worked 100%. But i cant guarantee for anything. There are some tutorials online.

If your controller has persistent and constant centering or drift issues, this most likely means you need to CLEAN the controller contacts. Resetting the functionality is for simple calibrations are more importantly, connectivity.

What causes the fan to kick on high gear on the PS4 apart from dust is that a lot of games have unlimited frame rate which pushes the console hardware to it's limits. Cleaning the console and replacing the thermostat paste helps some what but it won't solve the issue.
