It's not that they can "count" persay, but more so have a basic understanding of "x" amount of children. They don't comprehend that they have "14" children, but they understand that "x,y and z" are present, but "w" is missing.

You are absolutely correct they have a basic understanding of "counting" but it's not an understanding of mathematics that you think it is. It's hard for humans to comprehend because we understand addition and subtraction in a mathematical sense. Animals are much different. They dont understand they have 3 babies, X Y and Z, they only know that X Y and Z are present and when one of them go missing they realize it. It's definitely not understanding of math on a human level, but an understanding of their own right.

Well considering humans _are_ nature and it's in our _nature_ to show compassion and help those less fortunate, there's absolutely nothing wrong with us using our abilities to help any creature stuck in an unfortunate situation. The idea that "let nature take it's course" is bullshit to me. If an animal is in need you bet your ass I'm going to help them. I'm as much apart of this planet as any other creature or plant and it's in my biology and nature to help those less fortunate. Humans may be peices of shit sometimes but that's one thing most of us have right. Compassion for all life on earth.

Chap Stick actually this method is stull quite new. Chances are that a lot of the nature documentaries you have seen weren’t recorded this way. Still it’s indeed a stunning method that provides stunning footage :)

Before Spy Meerkat they learned that Meerkats love eggs. So they started bringing them eggs and soon they learned that humans were just here to give them free food, and no longer considered them a threat, allowing the humans to film whatever they wished.

After having a look at their movies, I think the 99% of the footage is not recorded by their "robots". To be precise they are some kind of animatronic puppets, nice to look but extremely limited in speed and movement. So, I think their get they footage mostly using a classic way: A lot of hidden cameraman with excellent quality zoom. With most animal species the human presence is accepted you stay quiet and have a lot of patience.

Petra Publications that's pretty interesting. Yeah that was a lot of shaky cam and perspective that had to have been made from close up, not zoomed in from far away. I guess the nice animals are filmed this way. The ones like bears and sharks must be filmed from afar. Thanks!
