I stumbled on this channel from watching the BMW e90 videos. I've never been into Honda's (for the FWD layout) but I respect a good engine build video and an overall quality build. Also I respect that these Honda engines were always so bulletproof. I appreciate that you don't aim for the loud fart can exhaust sounds. And your build is really clean! Not like the typical Honda's you see around town that have been beaten into oblivion, understeered into curb's, have mix matched body kit pieces from the junkyard, and the loudest fart can imaginable. Keep it up!

It’s always better to put oil inside the oil pump before assembly. The reason is because once you start the engine, the oil pump isn’t going to be lubricated and will run dry.

Hi John, I'm a 19yr old college student planning to do a nice street build this summer, not sure whether I'm going for a EK coupe or a 240sx yet, but I was helping a friend assemble his SR20 for his 240 over spring break, and we used similar masking tape to cover the block until we got the head installed. Did you have any problems with tape residue left behind? What did you do to get rid of it? (or maybe I'm using the wrong tape) Thank you man you are an inspiration!

did you opt for boost by gear as well? I finished my turbo GSR build a little over a month ago (420whp 310wtq mustang dyno), but boost by gear was probably the best thing I invested in for the build, otherwise 1-3 are mostly useless at full power, if you didnt and that what you're experiencing now I'd highly recommend. loving the build! good to see someone else doing it 100% right

@coryholbrook46432 жыл бұрын
I dropped an engine once trying to remove it from the bed of my truck to the floor using a ratchet strap because I didn’t have a proper chain on hand. I was lucky it only cost me a new pickup tube because I couldn’t use the oil pan on the motor anyways. You were luckier but I wouldn’t push that luck again. Chains are more expensive than a little ratchet strap but a lot cheaper than an engine.

@jimhiscott29184 жыл бұрын
Be sure you clean the paint off your block where the alternator bracket bolts to the block, and the alternator bracket as well and all alternator contact points. Your alternator is a very large and important ground. If not grounded correctly you will have endless electrical issues....

I've never understood why some people paint aluminium. Hardly an ugly metal
@jimhiscott29184 жыл бұрын
@@psk5746 aluminum rafiates heat very well. Thats why radiatirs are built from aluminum. Im 54. I worked for a race team as a young man back in the 80's. One of the first lessons I ever got was never paint an aluminum block or head. It puts an insulation blanket on the aluminum restricting the ability for the aluminum to radiate heat as well.
