Everyone loves a character within footy clubs , but no one likes a wanker. Jacko was born with a lot of ability but never developed the trait of humility, which would have got in the way of him developing relationships with people who would have helped extend his career. And anyone who says Garry Ablett Snr was just a full forward and so not as good as his son. Well you are wrong, because first 10 years of his footy career he was versatile and used to play on ball also around the ground but he was so brilliant he could still kick around six goals playing in midfield at times. He more became a permanent full forward from 1993 onwards and his first three years there he kicked 100 goals each season three years in a row !

I have watched Jacko on here few times and I like his honesty and opinion. He was not one of my favorite players back then but did draw crowds and he added humour which is nothing wrong with that. But to all those people who dont like his opinion. Means you dont know of that era. I recommend watch some games from then, the game was tougher, higher scoring, just as fast, more direct. Was better to watch. The game these days for the last 10 or so years has been to0 congested the whole teams following ball, too much backwards sideways kicking, too much handball, and the game is lower scoring and considering they play indoors at times and manicured grounds is no excuse for this. For example 2014 was the lowest scoring year by long way since 1968. Check statistics everyone because highest scoring years was from mid 1970's till late 90's, and they played on heavier grounds at times bakc then. So called experts might say game is revolving, but right way I am not sure. Plus I have no real interest in going to a game these days, but did recently, I took my kids to go see Essendon v Melbourne few weeks ago. Was frustrating to watch with unforced errors that happened. Both teams constantly kicking short passes to opposition. Which was good for a laugh. Even a spectator called out near me can we have our money back ! If people out there think game is faster and players skills are better then 20 years ago for example then you are wrong, wrong, wrong. Hahaha.. I was at that game. Our whole stand laughed, that's both Essendon and Melbourne supporters. The way the game is played now is a joke. 20 handballs to get out of a stoppage and then turn the ball over. Dirt Road The coaches are to blame for the current tactics. It’s the fear of being scored easily off of a turnover. Plus the players are the fittest they’ve ever been, so these rolling masses of 12+ players just move all over the ground with no space to clear the ball wherever on the ground it is. Last decent team to watch was Geelong in 07/08. Then St.Kilda (Ross Lyon), Hawthorn (Al Clarkson) and Collingwood (Mick Malthouse) coaching staff devised a game plan to stop the free-flowing Geelong game style and so Geelong were forced to change tactics when Chris Scott was appointed (and won another flag with their modified version of Bomber Thompson’s game plan). But it has just degenerated into a scrum these days. Appalling to watch.

Love him or hate him, he was great for footy, and as he says he got people through the gates. A true ‘Grass Roots’ player that had a very real and unique football talent and freely speaks his raw uncompromising truth. Let the ‘big knobs’ squirm a bit with his ‘pin point’ and barbed comments as his views are pretty much the opinion of a larger part of the footy public anyway. The only thing with Jacko was that he was a bit too ‘Retiring and reserved’ on the ground and probably needed to come out of his shell a bit. Go Geelong, Richmond, St Kilda, Melbourne ......... or whoever he was playin with that week!. 😂

The most honest, bravest man ever in football is Jacko. Tell you why he played for so many clubs- he wasn't a sterilized Mr average footballer. At the end of the interview he moved on. Guts personified. I bought a car off Jacko once, a nice guy. I locked up chopper once, a nice guy...with both, as long as you were straight with them.
