Check out the video for John's new version of ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, and rediscover this Moody Blues classic given new life in the here and now by John Lodge on his critically acclaimed new album ‘The Royal Affair and After’. Out now everywhere - orcd.co/JohnLo...
"Isn’t Life Strange", the luscious and symphonic rock song extraordinaire written by John, and a Top 100 Billboard hit for the Moody Blues in 1972, has been reimagined by John for it’s 50th Anniversary. The new version retains the intriguing and euphoric sound that resonates around the room and touches everyone in a crowd, but adds a new complexity to it with a richer use of cello and guitar that can be felt deep within.
John particularly sought to feature the cello on this new live album as he felt that the instrument would bring a naturally organic and acoustic symphonic quality to these new versions, with a purity unmatched by any electronic device, allowing rediscovery of songs such as this. The resulting reimagined song is uplifting and poignant and speaks eloquently through its lyrics and music to us all, especially in these strange times.
The track is taken from John’s new live album, ‘The Royal Affair and After’, which features vibrant new live recordings of all his Moody Blues hits, along with special tributes to all his bandmates: Graeme Edge, Justin Hayward, Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas. Recorded live in Las Vegas on ‘The Royal Affair Tour’, the album’s track list draws together songs that John calls ‘the soundtrack of his life’ and also continues his deeply-felt personal desire to keep all the Moody Blues music alive.
The Royal Affair and After’ is out now on CD and digital download and all streaming services. A limited-edition blue vinyl will also be released on 28th January with a black vinyl release on 11th February 2022. See John’s website for details www.johnlodge.com

I went to see The Moody Blues at the Saddledom on 2002 or 2004, I was at the front, when Mr Hayward started to sing Tuesday Afternoon, and I started to cry 😢: Mr John Lodge saw 👀 and reached out to me, and said do not cry. I said "I Love your music 🎶 🎵 always and I Love the group too" He said: "I know" Then he said I Love you too, and held my hand. I was so emotional 😭 and so happy when I was at the concert in the Saddledom. God Bless 🙌 The Moody Blues always. I will treasured the memories forever. ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ Marta Rodriguez

Thank you, John Lodge! It must take some courage to release a staple of the Moodies' set list with a new arrangement fifty years after the world first fell in love with it. This version holds its own against the original and other live versions from across the decades. Yes, they are each different, which means listeners can take their pick depending on their mood! This song exemplifies the staying power of the Moodies' music by remaining relevant with its timeless message. Congrats on the live album, and thank you for giving us another tour!

Such a beautiful video for a beautiful song. Thank you John! I spoke with Graeme back in the 90's and he informed me that in his opinion John Lodge's music is the music of the Moody Blues. The look on Graeme's face as he said this was one of pure love and admiration.

"Isn't Life Strange" Isn't life strange A turn of the page Can read like before Can we ask for more? Each day passes by How hard man will try? The sea will not wait You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry - Wished I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wished I could be in your eyes Looking back there you were, and here we are. Isn't love strange A word we arrange With no thought or care Maker of despair Each breath that we breathe With love we must weave To make us as one You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry - Wished I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wished I could be in your eyes Looking back there you were, and here we are. Isn't life strange A turn of the page A book without light Unless with love we write; To throw it away To lose just a day The quicksand of time You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry - Wished I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wished I could be in your eyes Looking back there you were:
