Try just cutting it off at ground level. Without being able to photosynthesise they will usually die. But of course it depends on the plant.

Have just discovered your videos today even though I often have brunch in the Wildflower Cafe in your garden centre. Can never leave your garden centre without a few plants even though my garden is over crowded. Love your garden centre and secret garden and now videos too. I actually had breakfast there today and yourself an Teddy were about. My baby granddaughter was enjoying Teddy’s antics today . She may have fed him some of her sausages.We especially enjoy the robin who is always about as we eat in the outdoor section . Robins have a special meaning for us and he/she never fails to arrive on cue. We like to think this is purely for us. Looking forward to binge watching all your videos.

What I hate about gardening is when my fingers go black. I do wear gardening gloves but sometimes when I take them off I may still find something which I haven't done, or I deep my forefinger in the soil of pots to check if the plants are thirsty. The solution is one. I rub my fingers in half slice of lemon. Of course here where I am (in the Peloponnese) the land of lemon trees, lemons are abundant. One is sick of seing lemons on trees.😂

@@lauravalenzuela2233 We use weed cloth and bark mulch. As soon as we see the head of the nut grass we pull it up roots and all. Thankfully we only have a few dozen each year. Pulling them out in early spring always works for us. Btw, we were initially infested with nutgrass from bags of Kellogg's mulch several years ago. Our neighbor had the same bad experience.

@johnlordssecretgarden

It's very hard to eradicate. It nearly always comes into a garden on other plants. Generally beds and borders have to be taken apart and all roots dug out with a fork. It takes at least 2 goes and generally an entire season is lost.

To my knowledge there aren’t any. Awful weed difficult to kill even with professional weed killer. :( Imo there’s no alternative to digging up the garden, and it must be a thorough job because the roots spread far and wide and any piece left in the ground can turn into a new plant. A different solution can be the no dig method, which involves covering all the ground with cardboard and a very thick layer of compost, and let it rest for at least 6 months so all the perennial weeds will die. Charles Dowding has videos on his method that you can check for details. It’s definitely much less labor intensive and easier on the back than digging but it still requires time and redoing the whole garden. If the infestation is severe it may well be worth considering though.
