Gratuitous amount of custom micro fabrications? Yes please!!! While it is definitely time consuming to make custom seat brackets, you are making complete one off bits for a one one off car. We appreciate that you took the time to bring us along on the journey! Thanks again for another good episode!!

Looking awesome John! I had to laugh my ass off when you crouched down to admire the car flat on the ground and saying “that’ll never get old”, immediately followed by audible groaning as you got up off the floor. I’ll be 68 soon, and I can tell you that the groaning has only begun. Ha! Really dig your channel and your thoughtful approach. Rock on!

I’m actually skipping football to watch you again. So stoked that you don’t work on mainstream Chevys or Dodge etc. And you aren’t afraid to tackle anything for your builds. You are a master craftsman and my hero.

Great job adding those adjustors. From my many track builds I learned installing seats is not a quick job. Glad to hear you will add structure to floor as in an accident the slider bolts will pull through typical floor pan metal. Might suggest you weld nuts under floor to bolt sliders down. Better than a loose nut with split washer.

John: that'll never get old. Then grunts to get back up 😂 man I felt that 😅

I really like how the seats are coming along, but I feel like you are going to need to support the seat further along it’s length front to back. With your only points of contact being front and back, as time takes it’s toll and the weight of your body sitting and getting in and out, the single flat section of 3/8 plate at the rear will bend downwards without any gusset to strengthen it. Keep up the great work 👍

Those turned out really nice. As I was about to say - reinforce the pan where the seat bolts go through - you mention it at the end 🤣

This is where completely cutting out the indented portions of the floor pan at the seat locations (back when those areas where instead made flat), swapping them between driver and passenger sides once flipped upside down, then re-welding them along their now symmetrical peripheries would have given some the seat base height required.

Nice work! If you plan on moving the shifter location back in the tunnel, at least you can just copy the parts and techniques that fiberglass dune buggies use to shorten the rod. Also, I believe you said the pan was a 59? The early pan uses a shoe horn looking thing inside the tunnel to support the shift rod, under the shifter location. You won’t be able to access that without butchering the tunnel. I recommend getting the 60’s style shift rod bushing/hanger bracket (the style that uses the plastic bushing wrapped around the shift rod) and just welding it in the tunnel farther back. The early hanger bracket doesn’t use the plastic bushing at all, the hole is a different size.

What type of cad program are you using for design, I'm trying to get into fabrication myself but I want to learn how to work cad first before I buy the equipment to cut it.

Those seats are junk but they're great for first time seats and later when the car is coming closer to being finished, you can change them. I would save them for future builds instead of just making final seats, they'll be good for mock up. I'm not picking on you, I couldn't have done that good, I'm a milk crate kind of mock up person. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

This seat project has me cringing the whole time. The wood backs and no lateral support on that front mount scares me. They would Box in the front mount and PLEASE have some metal attaching the sides of the seat together.
