Wow, that was fast!! Thanks John, great vid. This thing is a beast and has so many uses, plus you can use midi assigns with the helix for extra footswitches and control. My only problem (as with the helix) is that I seem to spend more time crouched down fiddling than I do playing. I've found the best thing is to create different templates where I save all my settings but with no loops and then use these as starting points each time.

I’m tempted on it but it seems a bit flakey with some defects in certain operating modes eg single mode I don’t know if they’ve been addressed with the latest firmware but people on the FB group seem to have some awful problems . If I’m laying out this much money Ai just want it to work. Love the built in rhythm ,the looping display etc But the Aeros loop studio seems to be more reliable even though it has its own foibles I just don’t like that they want to fleece you a or £350 for the beat buddy for rhythm etc I bet the boss would work with a power bank for street performing too

I agree -- it's a great device (I use it to loop keys and guitar which I play in either via an HX stomp and route through my studio monitors or with the guitar routed to an output that leads to an amp). I wouldn't call it counter-intuitive, but it's certainly unintuitive. I'm not using nearly all of it's functionality because I just haven't spent the time with the in depth parameters manual.

I Just got a RC600 this week. Only had a small play with it, but coming from the RC500 I found the assigns quite natural (now i'm familiar with un logical deep dive boss menus). I have just made a new pedal board and definitely gonna use my HX stomp for input FX. One thing I really like about the RC600 is it has 2 CTRL switch pedal inputs for FS-7 or similar, giving 4 more switches without an expensive midi controller which can be assigned to anything. So I will be using channels 1-3 for guitar and bass. Then assign the external control switches to play/stop channels 4-6 with pre recorded percussion loops. But totally agree with you about a PC editor. They had a great one with the GT1. If only boss did PC software like helix. Love your channel, and you're playing its really inspiring.

Hi John, I really agree on the editor...I am using it since the beginning of the year and checked out all the Guitar FX stuff. It is really nice... I personally decided to use an HX Stomp for my guitar so I can use the other FX for Vocals... One thing that is really difficult at the moment is, when you have you songs in the looper and want to change some FX on all of them there is no way to copy them - only the whole preset. So you end up writing down the settings like in storage...hahahaha... but it is definitely the best looper - also have the RC-550mk2 - same stuff there... all the best from Germany...

Yeah, it definitely needs an editor. I actually started writing one as it's not particularly hard to edit the presets when it's connected to your computer in firmware upgrade mode (it basically looks like a usb drive), but I haven't had time to do much on it, and I sent their team some requests for how they could tweak the file format to make it a little bit easier to work with (it's XML, but strictly speaking, it's not valid XML, so I just asked them to fix that so that I don't have to do any special hackery to work with them...I don't know whether they will though!). Regarding the FX, I use the on-board FX for vocals only essentially and bought a bunch of external pedals so that my guitar tone is all determined outside the box. It's not that there's anything wrong with the FX, it's just that it's simpler to use them when they're all dedicated to one instrument input type, so if you're just looping vocals, or you're just looping guitar, they're fine, but if you're looping vocals + guitar + synth + drums for instance, then they're just too limited because you have to keep remembering to switch between banks if you're using entirely different chains for each instrument or you have to dedicate each pedal to the instrument it's effecting which obviously limits the number of FX that can be applied to each instrument at the same time. I want the option of being able to sing and player guitar live at the same time over the built loops, so an external chain is a must!

Boss seems to be stubborn to be point of arrogant about lack of support. Case in point: EQ200 graphic eq, great idea for a pedal with stored memories, but manual is as crypic as the Enigma Code. And so it goes. In spite of some great hardware, I've largely migrated to Line6 due to their dedication to updates, easy to read manuals and editors galore.

Just got mine yesterday. Really was frustrating in the beginning just getting all the settings right and routing setup the way I wanted with guitar and bass going to their own amps. Also have the rhythm track or drums to go to pa with vocals. Very powerful and now I can bypass my mixer but there are a few things that almost drove me crazy. I think in a few weeks time I’ll get more familiar but the ease of use is not there for me. Also just got my UA Ruby yesterday and it’s fantastic.

I had one for 5 months (after waiting 8 months on back order) and eventually sold it on. The looper is incredibly powerful--it's a looper, mixer, interface, modeler, (but no tuner)! I found myself having to sit on the floor constantly to menu dive and watch videos on how to use it. I think it would be good for someone who is a serious looper with multiple instruments. I ended up selling it, and buying the Boss RC-5 with one foot switch--much better for a simple guitar player. Also, the looper takes up a lot of space--it is almost the size of a Helix Floor or Kemper Stage.

I have a gx-100 that I’ve finally started to get some fluency and ease of use with. I’m thinking of getting a looper and this looks awesome, but I’d rather keep my GX-100 with all my effects… would it be practical/possible to run my gx-100 into an rc-600. I could potentially keep all my GX effects and the built in GX EDITOR and just use the RC strictly as a looper. Might be overkill idk, it would take up a lot of space too. 🤔

Could you please advise if it's possible to run multitracks from this device? For example, I'm a solo artist singing and playing acoustic guitar and I want to run stereo track with prerecorded drums and synths and at the same time want to run click-track for monitoring purposes. So i need to run 2 tracks synchronously and route them to different outputs. Thank you.

is it possible to assign two fx bank to two inputs and use them simultaneously. I play guitar and sing at the same time. Both my guitar input and mic inputs need fx. I can make only one fx bank active at a time which is assigned to one input; another input does not receive fx. How am i suppose to get two fx banks for two inputs at the same time

Or the Singular Sound Aeros Loop Studio, which is also extremely flexible. It has a smaller footprint, with fewer footswitches, but it's expandable either via MIDI or via the Singular Sound MIDI Maestro. -Tom PS: Singular Sound recently reduced the price on it, now that supply chains are recovering.

I own the headrush looperboard and the RC600. Currently playing with the headrush because I get so pissed off with the RC600 every time I try to set it up. It is absolutely unbelievable that Roland would make something this complicated with no interface other then an lcd screen and some knobs in 2022... Huge fucking whiff! A fan is currently building an editor for it. I will keep the RC600 on the shelf for another year and hold out hope that this mistake is corrected either by the company or the users. Until then, I am not going to waist my precious time fucking with it.

annnnd 1 year later.. the editor dude made only works in storage mode which helps me absolutely none. lol. As someone who pre-ordered.. I feel like there was really a lot of oversight from boss here. Loop LED is useless unless you set it to watch the beat and let the center reflect loop status. Otherwise every time you arm the next track it just flashes red giving you no indication of where you are in the loop, so I can't even really watch it because I'm looking at loop statuses on the LCD screen. . Menu is like going back to the early 2000's and more complicated than older boss modelers. and only 16 midi assignments? 20-50 pre-programmed midi CC messages would take the RC-600 to a completely different world. Which is ironic af considering Roland's part in the adoption of the midi standard.

It amazes me that in the year 2024 companies can't program a looperboard to work correctly directly off the shelf. As far as boss is concerned. Their refusal to add a decent touch screen to their products is mind blowing.

to me this is at this moment the worst looper...not reliable AT all...sorry to say. Even with last update, some serious bugs. I 'm scared to take it out on the road...

@@johnnathancordy it crashes, freezes, error messages, sync problems (yes, even with the last update mine still has sync issues). I tried to get in contact with Roland Belgium (where I live), no communication at all...It's on the shelf now :-). It has lots of potential, pity they put something on the market that makes you feel like a betatester. Don't need that, I have to go out and perform with things that work. If it doesn't work, I can find something else that works. But eather way, thanks for your great videos! (promise to buy you coffee, dont have my card here now :-))
