I've always been fascinated how Andy's tone can lean towards being dark though it somehow cuts through. Regardless how he does it, it's a tone that's among the best ever. You could eat it with a knife and fork.

It's the Dimarzio cruiser bridge in the neck position, which has less sparkle than a typical strat neck, but still sounds amazing, combined with his dual delay, which has tape distortion effects, which really adds to the "darker" sound. I have the same setup and with a driven Fendery style amp, and his pickups and similar delay, you can get really close to his sound. The pickup in this demo is too "fuzzy" sounding.

Thanks for this rundown. I've been looking for a Timmons-esque tone for ages, but I could never make the Lonestar model in my HX Stomp work for me. The key was turning the bass all the way down, as demonstrated here. Another noticable part of his tone is that he runs his compressor after his drive. It adds a lot of that spongy quality to his attack, in my opinion. Real shame there's no Blues Driver circuit in the Helix. No BB preamp either. I got close enough for my needs with the Prince Of Tone and the DOD 250 Preamp models.

If you are on the latest beta for the Fm3 there is the Aurora delay in the multitap delay block which is emulating the Keeley Halo . It’s pretty amazing Love your videos Cheers

I Downloaded patches for FM9. I was dealing with a phasing problem when dual amps are being used and you wanna turn off one of the amp blocks. After sometime I discovered that amp blocks have to be set to mute or else signal goes thru them when they are off causing this out of phase problem. Hope this helps somebody!

In my opinion the best way to get the Halo sound (in the Helix at least) is not to use a dual delay, but to run two delays in series. I believe that's what the Halo does, is run a dotted 1/8 into a 1/4, rather than running them in parallel. I use two tape delays with the wow/flutter turned up fairly high. I've found it gets really close to the pedal, since the repeats are feeding into each other to get that "almost reverb" sound.

I have line 6 spider V mk2. What amp modal would you use?
@minkorrh Жыл бұрын
It's his ambient clean tone I want to dupe. He puts a delay into a delay to get that 'ethereal' all-over you reverb that sounds like it exists before the note was even picked. Was it Strymon that made him his delay? I can't remember now. I've approximated it on my HD500X but it's not quite right and I'm no AT.

Great work as always man! I've been trying to think how he gets his sound since that pedal show where he made Dan cry with his two lone stars one being slaved to another... how does that work when plugging both in one mesa 2x12? I'm assuming he has maybe a cab switcher or load box to handle that load? Would love your thoughts on this! Thanks man

Hi John. Could a similar result be achieved(in terms of how you chose the el34 tubes) on the ampero? I'd be running a superstar clean preamp(Lonestar clean channel preamp) into the el34 Poweramp sim on the ampero. Is that essentially the same as what you're doing here?

Hi John great video as always! Can I ask you which differences are between your 3 package of patch for hx stomp that we can buy from you? Another question, did you ever try acoustic patch with the hxstomp and an acoustic guitar? If you did it, which setup did u recommend us? Have a good day! :)

Also, I really want an FM-3. Does it have gapless switching between presets like the GT-1k?
@KingKong-mp6gj2 жыл бұрын
No, only between scenes within a preset. Scenes are pretty powerful tho, so this shouldn't be a problem.

He uses a dual compressor. One more as a boost and the other with more compression. Couldn’t you put the compressor as dual in one block, and then same with the drives?
