I also did not realize that powerlifters only do bench, squat and dead lifts for sets of 3 or less. Where do you experts get this information. Any powerlifting routine whether it's Westside's conjugated periodization ( where most of the heavy work is not performed on the 3 competitive lifts), 5/3/1 where each workout revolves around the bench, squat, dead lift and military press plus various assistance work such as pull,ups, good mornings, dips, leg curls, leg presses, dumbbell work, lateral raises and basically those exercises that help to bring up weak muscle groups that hold a lifter back on the competitive lifts. Various rep schemes are used such as 5s, 3s and 1s plus max reps to failure once in a while plus sets in the typical bodybuilding range of 8-12 and higher. All powerlifting routines with minor exceptions have trainees perform the competitive lifts for practice and to identify weaknesses in the range of motion that indicate weaknesses in certain muscle groups. It is then up to you (the lifter) or your coach to find the right assistance exercises that help you remedy weak muscles through trial and error. All this information is available online if you would take the time to educate yourself rather than spew misinformation that the young and impressionable will accept as fact. When posting try to be responsible and only discuss what you have confirmed via thorough research.

Our gym connected the TV to the stereo. Here we have channels that play music so if you tell them to put something different on they can. Here its usually Rock, Techno, or RnB lol lots of everything. One day you'll listen to Kiss or ACDC then Britney Spears the next cause the girls are in.

The lateral pull you should try it out. The stretch is fucking insane and this seems to be the only way the lateral pull works for me. Other than that this is powerlifting training. You train for explosiveness. Moving weight from point a to b and thats it.

Most definitely. New age gyms fail to realise that no matter what your goal is, whether its to get big or just become extremely fit, it takes concentration and hard work, not a thousand TV's playing the E channel, and the top 40 hits playing over the sound system.

Im a trainer at 24 fitness and I used to compet in local bodybuilding shows wn I was in my early 20's Back then I traned this way in off seaon and got amazing results. Its called over loading the muscle. When you come down in weight then you use a controled lifting syle. When lifting heavy weight you dont need to use a full rage of motion. All your doing is breaking the muscle down and getting as much blood as possible in the area your training. Not pretty but effective.
@someenthusiast21976 жыл бұрын
Yeah its true.
@Bigturns3312 жыл бұрын
Cross training provides for greater progress. This is a fact. Your body does not get use to the stimuli presented. If you mix power lifting with Superset training next, Res pause training on other things you have a winning fomula.
@EpictheEpicest11 жыл бұрын
@paintball130 no, i'm not questioning how he trains since he is trying to train for bodybuilding, and to a small extent powerlifting. the man claims that he's the "strongest bodybuilder" though. not only is he not the strongest bodybuilder, he's also not a winning bodybuilder, yet he probably takes the trophy for achieving the best shape while using the worst form. i can damn well question johnnie jackson all day until he places well at the olympia

Just a little observation, for all the people trying to discredit any criticism on Johnny or Branch by saying the people commenting aren't pro athletes so they don't know shit... You aren't either so how can you defend something which you also aren't especially close to. Seems that guys on gear with great genetics can train however they like and get massive but the hing is at least for branch, he can train controlled, i've seen him do it in a leg video. No doubt Johnny does too. Not here tho

steroids don't make you bigger, they help your body recover faster. and you don't shrink if you go off steroids, you shrink because you don't eat enough anymore to sustain your muscle mass.
@tomrp981510 жыл бұрын
Johnnie normally is strong on deadlifts but 455? And it did not look easy for him. I have seen him do over 750 for a double and it looked better than this. The glute ham raises were pretty ugly too for a powerlifter. He and branch have great physiques so whatever they do obviously works but there is a difference between loose form to lift big weights and sloppy technique. The loads were nothing compared to what I have seen them do in other videos and the form was too loose.

Well, actually I am into bodybuilding and a bit of powerlifting myself. And what those two guys are doing is nothing but throwing big weights around, no full ROM or anything. I don't go around calling people dumb or anything, but they are really not that bright. Lift like them and you'll get as many injuries. Guys like Kai Green or Evan Centopani e.g. have the real bodybuilding mentality/mind-set.
@EpictheEpicest11 жыл бұрын
@bigrmachine69 powerlifters don't do lat pulldowns. they don't. don't comment if you have no fucking idea what you are talking about. lat pulldowns do not do one fucking thing for powerlifters. they are a detail exercise, they add width to the back, not strength, thus they have no place in a strictly powerlifting program
@sulljd7411 жыл бұрын
These guys use a ballistic style of training, it seems to work for them. Although sometimes it does seem like a pretty small range of motion. Ive noticed a lot of bodybuilders transition from full range of motion to a shorter range as they develope a great feel for the muscle they are hitting. And as for the steroid comments, of course it helps and every good IFBB pro takes them buy you will never look like this unless you work your ass off.
@someenthusiast21976 жыл бұрын
Shorter ROM is more tension on the muscle. Basically you get one hell of a pump.
@CHUUMPASS12 жыл бұрын

What I mean is the way these guys work out, screaming and yelling. Nowadays most gyms don't like bodybuilders because it scares others visitors (like older people who want to do some excercises to stay fit). I know that the Arnold days were 35 years ago. And I know that Enter Sandman was not written yet. What I mean is that the whole atmosphere is better than in most others gyms (rap music and that kind of shit)
