Super modified are some of the most bad ass race cars on the planet . Oswego motor Speedway in Oswego New York is a five eights asphalt track that they race on . Big blocks on fuel injection. Nothing like it.

I saw them race their first time at Cayuga Speedway in Ontario in the early 90s. The first car out in practice broke the track record on its first lap. Watching those wings level out at speed and then slam the car back down when they lifted for the corner. The floor in my car was vibrating on their pace laps while I was waiting to go out for practice. Lol. Awesome cars, even back then.

I was very blessed to know somebody that worked in the media and had a social media page and local radio station in Northwest Ohio. He ended up getting us media passes at Sandusky speedway last year and had a wonderful time seeing the super modifieds run at that track. I was very fortunate enough to bump fist and say something nice to Jonny Benson before he got into his car during driver intros before the A main last year. What a fun time 😊

Love your chanel. You should try interviewing Indy car drivers from the 70's. Those studs won in everything including shopping carts. To win a USAC championship you had to be the best sprint car driver and best Indy car driver to win the championship. AJ and Mario won Daytona 500's as well as Indy 500's Mario a World driving championship and AJ 24 hr's of Laman. All the greats back then won in everything and half the field built there own Indy cars. So many great drivers like Lone Star JR, Gordon Johncock, Tom Senva, Al Unser Jr, and the late great brothers Bobby and Al Unser. and so, so many more Gladiators from that era.

For those of you who have never seen one, a super modified runs a Big Block Chevy 454 block, stroked to a 480, with all billet internals, roller cam, shaft rockers, and timing belt, and mechanical fuel injection stacks, and run pure methanol, making between 900 to well over a thousand horsepower... No transmission, no clutch, no starter, just a titanium driveshaft bolted the back of the crankshaft, to the rearend... with the front wing, and the top wing they have the downforce, and speed of an IndyCar... These cars are an engineer's dream, and are simply bada$$... They also used to run at the Copper world classic at Phoenix (There's KZbin video out there) If you ever get a chance to watch them race in person, you will not be disappointed, but bring ear plugs...

Really cool to see Johnny run some laps in the super ! Does he run competitively or just out to get his kicks ? Seen about a half dozen super shows over the years at Oswego and Flemington N. J. Cars are as bad as 410 winged sprinters , gotta have a man size set to drive those chariots !!

This has to have been the Friday night event that weekend. Johnny's car seems to have constant mechanical issues during his 2024 ISMA races & that night was one of those nights. The other Berlin race the following day went much better for him.

Berlin sure hasn't changed much since I last help spin wrenches there. I see they haven't bothered to fix the bad bump in 3 and the drain pipe bump in 4..lol. I will say this, I am not used to seeing Johnny run that low in the corners at this track. Anyone who has spent any appreciable amount of time around this track also knows names like Bob and Terry Seniker, Tim Steele and Randy Sweet to name a few from back when. While the super mods are a hoot, one should watch winged sprints run around that track once. Those things are crazy fast here.

A drive shaft connects directly from the crank to rear end. It is either in gear or out. Needs to be pushed to be started. Put it in gear, truck starts pushing, when oil pressure comes up flip the ignition on.
