obviously this is a highlight video, but it looks like he has everything. athleticism, passing, tackling, and most importantly technical and good on the ball

yeah no doubt. would love for him to be a bit more adventurous with the ball but he's certainly capable.

Im brazilian and I support Internacional (club where Jhonny Cardoso was formed). Imo he should be sold for more than 8mi euros to Betis, he is very good, attacking and defending wise, a great cdm/cm... Hopefully he continues to do well and a big club in europe buy him

He was playing for SC Internacional from Brazil before Betis. Inter is very traditional and bigger than Bétis

There's a difference between "development" and "improvement": The club where he learned how to play soccer until he could be a professional player is actually the club that developed him. He was DEVELOPED by Internacional de Porto Alegre, what Real Betis is doing is helping him with his IMPROVEMENT. He dindn't leave Brazil just to be "developed" by Real Betis.

I was worried about the move initially because he hadn't previously shown anything to me that made me think he'd succeed in La Liga, and I was worried he'd ride the bench and not see play, but I am entirely pleasantly surprised by what I'm seeing of him and indeed I am glad he made the move because without it I don't think he'd get a whole lot of attention from management and there were a number of players who would automatically rate higher on the depth chart. But now, I think you can legitimately rate him as potentially a starting midfielder especially if Berhalter goes back to his preferred 4-2-3-1 now that he's got the pieces for it (potentially, if people stay healthy, looking at you Weston).

I've watched his games at Betis and he's been cooking. I think he has a higher ceiling as a 6 than Tyler Adams but Tyler is really good at destroying. Definitely good to have the option of a destroyer and a 6 who is good on the ball and in the air

Love to see it. Its great to have options at the 6. USMNT have viable options in almost every position. Would love to have better LB and winger options. But really happy to see Johnny soccer begin to put himself in the conversation as a starter for USMNT even with a healthy Adams. Hes earned the look

Bradley was much better with stopped balls, set pieces, and long range passes/shots. He probably had more motor. But on the other hand, I think Cardosa is more press resistant and has a better first touch. But yeah, regardless, I would definitely take a player of Bradley's caliber.

We won't see it until this summer when Adams returns to full fitness, but it will be interesting to see how the USMNT staff make use of all the talent we have at the CM positions. Adams, Cardoso & Maloney @ the 6, McKennie, Musah & De La Torre @ the 8, Reyna & Tillman @ the 10. At least 2 of these guys are going to miss the Copa America....and it should be an interesting competition to see who is in the starting XI. CF competition also seems to be heating up with Balogun, Pepe, Sargent all doing well with others lurking to challenge if any of these 3 slip up. If we could only get some competition and depth at CB and Keeper I think we could make some noise.

This just goes to show how little importance it is how good a player is at 18 compared to how good they are at 23. The best players at age 17 are rarely the best players at 23 or 26. He's balling out for exactly the sort of reasons you'd expect - he's added a ton of muscle to his frame and he's gotten over his boyish clumsiness he exhibited earlier. There is also a fierceness and edge to his play that was missing earlier. The best thing is that this is not a player who is being held back by anything right now. He's only going to get better over the next four years. Plus he's a big physical player whose game will very much translate to the rough and tumble of CONCACAF. Tim Ream was probably the breakthrough player of 2022 after everyone had written him off as too old and too mistake prone. Cardosa is definitely the breakout player of 2024. I can't see anyone else showing this much upside.
