These two seem like real people, like anyone could go up and talk to them and they would talk to you like you were part of their family. Unlike many of the rich and famous who surround themselves with guards and act like they are too holy to lower themselves to talk to the common peasants.

🧨🧨 Johnny made a comment about June’s love for shopping. The couple was well-known for going to local shopping malls, near home and on the road traveling, without security or an entourage. Just the two of them because they didn’t mind meeting and interacting with the public. That kind of thing didn’t “bother” them. They never became elitist like many celebrities. In fact, despite appearances here, Johnny’s health was beginning to deteriorate and as it worsened later in his sixties he had to use an electric scooter but since he wasn’t the one doing the actual shopping anyway, he would just park himself somewhere pleasant nearby to sit and chat with anyone who came along and wanted to talk a little while June shopped, not unlike average couples anywhere, which despite all their (hard-earned) fame and fortune, in their hearts both felt they still were. As they say in the south, “they never got above their raising.” Both died in 2003 in their early 70s, June first, followed by Johnny just a few months later. They were American treasures admired worldwide. As Kris Kristofferson said, if there was a Mount Rushmore of country music, Johnny Cash would be on it. [P.S. If you’re interested, I posted a second comment here about the American I - VI series of albums produced by Rick Rubin that Johnny began work on around the time of this interview.]

An amazing thing happened to me yesterday. I watched the Film "walk the line" it is a biography of Johnny Cash,and I thought it was an excellent film. I have to admit that I was crying buckets when Johnny proposed to June on the stage,it was so heartfelt and romantic. After it finished I went out on my bicycle for a ride and when I got back to my home,I spotted what I thought was a storage box sticking out of my neighbours bin. On inspection I noticed it was actually a guitar case. I pulled it out,obviously expecting it to be empty,but to my great surprise it had the most beautiful electric guitar in it. It is pristine and the most gorgeous cherry red colour. I am no musician,I couldn't hit a right note if I took a running jump at it,but there was no way I was putting this thing of beauty back in the garbage. So along with me to my home it has come. At the time I never really thought of it as a coincidence,that is until a little time later,I came onto KZbin and I went onto a video about outer space. Well just before the video came up,an advert came on,and to my utter amazement the advert was for a online tutorial,and as God is my witness it was to learn how to play an electric guitar. It was then that I realised what an amazing coincidence this was. And if I was a religious man,I might even believe it was a divine intervention. And that is the reason I am watching this video now. What a lovely couple they make,and I too am blessed with a woman that I adore,and she adores me too.

My Mother told me that when I was a kid she took me to a Johnny Cash concert, where it was basic as - a Wooden stage - chairs and not much else! I was about 3 ,and was put on stage,at his feet, I was plying with my favorite toy I guess didn't pay him much heed... He asked "Who's child I was?" My mum piped up,and he said In his southern accent I imagine, "reminds of my kid back home - John Junior!" Then he sang on... Years later aged 12-13,found the double LP Folsom Prison played it, knew I'd seen him before, knew him only as the "Man in Black", knew nothing else about him, until older,about 20ish, my mother told me she took me to his concert in New Zealand, in the 80s,and sat me at his feet - Loved his music ever since! :) Thanks Mother! R.I.P - You are dearly missed! ------------------- Went to Paul Holmes wife's house,when he was alive,in Epsom,Auckland, about 1986-7? as my friend then Ngawini Ranui (?) from Tauranga and her then BF then ,Jodie,took me there to see their Auntie! Paul wasn't there! Anyone remember he got in trouble for saying: "You cheeky Darkie" ? :) Walked through the door - and shock! - his wife was a Maori lady Rangi who was my High school (in Penrose) substitute form teacher, who had been sacked for kicking a girl on weed,making fun of her, in the leg, that was making fun of her rainbow colored boots! She later pimped on her to the school principle for doing that! We remembered each other, she was a lovely person! Saw her daughter Hine (Elder) outside, maybe she was about 16 then, and pretty! Never got to meet her... We left soon after!

42awww - June didn’t redeem him, only God redeems - in fact, she was a homewrecker, I know it takes two to tango, but 99% of men are weak in that way, June had no business luring a married man, period!!
@msuddie1237
@msuddie1237 2 жыл бұрын
@@jolenaagapisou3803 people who get married very young (like Johnny and Vivian did) oftentimes grow apart as they grow up/get older and realize that their ambitions and interests are no longer the same. It’s unfortunate but we are human and we make mistakes but then we are able to correct them and move on. Staying in a bad marriage is the worse thing a couple can do to themselves and to their children! Everyone has a right to find happiness but this can only happen if we can connect with the person that is right for us - that person was June for Johnny, not Vivian, even his daughters saw this despite the pain they knew their mother (Vivian) felt. Johnny Cash was not the first or last person with kids to divorce and remarry. Johnny Cash also was not known as a weak person who could be influenced by anyone to do anything he did not want to do, so to suggest that June forced him into divorce is utter nonsense - his marriage was in trouble long before he and June connected in 1961. Yes, he fell in love with her and she fell in love with him when they were both married to other people, and yes, Vivian was very hurt by it all. But she ( Vivian) remarried before Johnny married June, and unfortunately she just never allowed herself (or was unable) to let go of Johnny emotionally. Johnny and June loved each other, understood each other, and June had the strength and understanding to deal with Johnny when he fell back into addiction. Furthermore, June understood and loved the life of a constantly traveling performer and could participate fully in that life with Johnny and he needed that support. While Vivian was supportive of Johnny’s music she did not like, know, or understand the music business and could not participate in it with him the way he needed - Vivian wanted a stay-at-home 9 to 5 husband and Johnny could not be that type of husband. Johnny and June’s life together was not easy or smooth but they stuck with and by each other and their love for each other survived and flourished - they were each other’s soulmate. In addition, Johnny and June shared the same religious, spiritual beliefs which Vivian did not and could not share with Johnny in the same way, and his spiritual beliefs became integral to who Johnny Cash was as a person. Johnny and June were soulmates despite the complexities of their lives!

You and me both, the other love of mine is Loretta Lynn. Both these women were tough but cool. No pretentiousness in them at all. I'd of love to met them at a concert backstage and ask what's goin on good lookin?

They made a good couple and seemed so in love, and June seemed very sweet. But I can't help but feel bad for Vivian and I kind of wish Johnny and Vivian could've worked things out. She always loved him. But I guess he lost that love somewhere along the way.

That she waited until Johnny and June were both dead to launch her nasty accusations about June was reprehensible and says all you heed to know about her. She attacked June about everything and most of it on pretty flimsy suppositions. She showed no respect for any of the many children involved. Always be wary of bitter exes who hold grudges for decades.

Thanks you're right, I'll try and change the title to put the correct date - was a great show Johnny Cash and the Carter family (all four) performed at the Auckland Town Hall in January 1994....
