Luther Perkins. One of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded.

Country boy from the south right here from North Carolina myself born Luther Perkins has been my main gitar influence ever since I was a little kid started playing guitar I'm 20 now and Luther Perkins is still my number 1 guitar hero I even use flatwound strings and a good ol' tube amp

So awkward on stage, but the sound that comes from it is just unmatched. Such a distinct sound
@Musictroper763 ай бұрын
@@alexanders1330 I learned to play to guitar because of Luther! A lot of my earlier work and even modern work mirrors his sound.

Luther's great. And I love it that he looks nervous as hell on TV--he's human! Sam Phillips said that Luther would get all nervous and flustered in the studio because Cash would get impatient with him, so the key to the trio's success was "to take it off Luther", meaning doing everything to put Luther at ease so he could hit his licks.
@matthewsmithson90028 жыл бұрын
Luther Perkins is a musical genius with that electric guitar, I love how mid way thru he makes you think the song is over then picks it back up again bet that fooled a lot of people back in 1958 lol

Brother Mack There wasn't a need for one in 1950s folk music. They eventually did recruit a drummer when they gained popularity and had to change from a folk style to a more traditional country.

Honestly, now listening to the rhythm, johnny cash would have never gotten to be a star without Luther Perkins. That man had talent. Johnny had the voice. But without Luthers fill ins and rhythm, there's just a country artist strumming a guitar.

Nothing compares to what I did today. I was absolutely blown away.....

Cash had, and still has, an amazing effect on people with his larger than life persona! The charisma he had was tangible and still is somehow through his spirit. He was likely the most genuine megastar ever to live in America to date. Likely no one will surpass him in this regard. He was and still is an emblematic and iconic figure. In his person, he held the opposing forces with which all of mankind struggles - good & evil, darkness & light, love & hate, hope & desperation, healing & pain, life & death. It is highly likely that anyone will ever surpass his ability to maintain his sanity, on the ‘world stage’, and be so transparent as a person. Only Cash!

Just around the corner there's heartache Down the street that losers use If you can wade in through the teardrops You'll find me at the Home of the Blues I walk and cry while my heartbeat Keeps time with the drag of my shoes The sun never shines through this window of mine It's dark at the Home of the Blues Oh, but the place is filled with the sweetest mem'ries Memories so sweet that I cry Dreams that I've had left me feeling so bad I just want to give up and lay down and die So if you've just lost your sweetheart And it seems there's no good way to choose Come along with me, misery loves company You're welcome at the Home of the Blues Just around the corner there's heartache Down the street that losers use If you can wade in through the teardrops You'll find me at the Home of the Blues Yeah, you're gonna find me at the Home of the Blues
