The red Esquire Luther Perkins is playing was purchased O.K. Houck Piano Company in Memphis. Luther fell behind on the payments and had to return the instrument. However, an old friend of his who used to work with him on the railroad happened to work at O.K. Houck. His name was Sid Lapworth. Sid agreed to let Luther to "borrow" the returned instrument for one recording session. Luther returned the guitar bright and early the next morning after using it to record, "I Walk the Line".

Excellent film clip of Johnny! "So Doggone Lonesome" was the "B" side of the original SUN release of Folsom Prison Blues... Pick it, Luther! And playing for Lil Jimmy Dickens, Hank Snow, and Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys to boot! Classic Country Royalty!

Great song and playing by Johnny, Luther, and Marshall, but the highlight for me is Paul Warren (fiddler with Flatt and Scruggs) dropping his cards at 0:52 It's funny seeing these two great bands together. It would've been great to hear them perform together.

I've always preferred his live performances over studio versions, tempo is faster, vocals stronger, cause on stage they where usually high.Check out bass player chewing the shit outta that Gum lol! Good stuff!

Great video and performance by JC, Luther and Marshall. But frankly, it would have been even better without the distraction of Flatt and Scruggs taking up most of the foreground in the video. I like Flatt and Scruggs music but don't care much to see them as a distraction playing cards. That said, it is what it s, and It's still a great video!
