I've never studied Italian only Spanish so what I got from this and correct me if I'm wrong was that the woman's husband had passed away, he had been the most loving and kind father to the children and basically the light of their lives. She however felt sorry for not being able to help them deal with the death as she too was so devastated ( I'm not sure of this but I think she was saying sorry for something). Johnny was her surprise for them. He consoled them and obviously gifted them what we see in the video. Loved it, he was sincerely moved by their story. The way he started out sitting a shirt distance away from her, turned slightly away but, as he heard her story, turned to her, reached out to console her and give her his handkerchief shows his humanity and great compassion. It appeared that he did not know ahead of time what her story was but surely he must have done so in order to agree to the gift he gave them (was it from him or the TV show? Whichever- JD’s beautiful soul shines through
