I did jury duty here in america recently, and we got paid $12 per DAY. It was a 2 week long trial, and after the 5th day they upped it to $20 per DAY. Absolutely ridiculous, nobody can afford that.

So for the Jury duty thing, they don’t base it all on looks. They will ask you questions like “are you any kind of law enforcement?” Or “are you related to the anyone in law enforcement” so their is not criminal law bias. They will weed out the people that are the most likely to have a one sided opinion. Also, you get compensated $40 dollars per day I think. At least in America 😎.

They’ve talked about it a bunch before. They were all friends with Zack, Peter and Jordon were in a few videos and then both started their own channels. After that it just made sense to start a group channel, considering how much they appeared in each other’s videos. Jackson got added because he is friends with Zack and knew the other guys from smash, and he’s funny. Not really much more detail to add, unless you want like dates and stuff lol

On the nightmare discussion: when I was a kid I would have horrible nightmares almost every night for years. I'm talking, wake up crying and terrified level of nightmares. Being a kid I couldn't articulate it well and wound up annoying my parents due to the almost nightly wakeups, but I learned to lucid dream (albeit with minimal control) specifically to protect my psyche from nightmares...being able to tell it was a dream helped, if only a little. At bare minimum it let me wake up sooner. Also will echo the love that this podcast is weekly now, it's been helping me get through Fridays at work, genuinely.

Just a quick note for the military draft in Australia, it was active in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War as well. Also fun fact (actually not so fun)for Peter and the rest of the Underdogs, it’s still active today and if war is declared, Australia can reinstate mandatory military service if approved by the parliament. Similar thing with the US

IDK if it's different for Australian jury, but the US courts don't like it when you know about jury nullification, mention that and you can probably be thrown out. Basically the jury knows that the accused is guilty, but think the law is wrong so vote not guilty anyways

I think Jordan's point about the work made perfect sense. The reason you work is to have money to spend outside of work, unless your career is your life. So if there's a version of you that only knows work and never gets to spend the money that you make, it defeats the purpose of working.

In Switzerland we have mandatory military service for young men which make questions like poppt's easier to answer. I personally hated it but I was surprised to see that most of the guys would be prone to go to war if they needed to. I guess that when you get some basic military experience it give you disproportionate confidence on your ability to actually kill someone and defend yourself.

Personally after watching squid game I have experienced a lot of dreams where I’ve been in a similar situation. Locked into life and death situations that are related to some kind of game that I was forced into. Scary as hell.

Conscription is a tricky topic depending on your country's circumstances I will say. South Korea still has the mandatory 2 years of service either in the actual military or something in service of the military, and that's the case because it's technically still at war with the North. I don't think anyone LIKES the idea of mandatory military service but tough if you're at risk of just getting invaded by an immediate neighboring country vs America where your biggest neighboring threat is Canada.
