Johnny Glocks Vex Shoe Timney Upgrade!! Worth the price??? We don't think so...

If you or some one you know has been personally victimized by Timney and Johnny Glocks...welcome to the forum. We install the Johnny Glocks Vex Trigger Shoe onto a Timney Alpha Series Trigger System to hopefully cure the laggy reset, but lo-and behold... a new issue pops up on the pistol. Way to go us!

Take the bottom set screw out apply a little heat if you're putting torque into it and it feels like it's going to strip. Once you take out the set screw The safety will drop out there by revealing the trigger safety tab spring. Keep it in there but snip it flush with the back of the trigger thereby reducing the number of coils by right about 3. This 100% alleviates what you're talking about. You have to remember safety is primary and that spring needs to be rather stout. However every once in awhile there might be some inconsistencies in the compression rate of that spring. Even if that's not the case I always snip mine like that because I just like to disengage faster. Also I don't know if y'all tried reaching out to me but we have a video called flat face fixes that talks all about it. If you start it at minute Mark 13 it will walk you through the process.

I would disassemble & reassemble . I have 3 Johnny Glock combat trigger kits with no problems . Also compare that Glock to another Glock , look for that clearance where the safety tucks in . I think the trigger safety can be adjusted

i did the assembly 4 different times off camera. Cleaned the system, buffed the wear areas, changed something each time and still no difference. It seems the JG Combat Kit works well as a full trigger system, unlike the stand alone Vex shoe upgrade for the timney. The safety is not adjustable, unless clipping coils off the safety spring is what you mean. I won't be putting this Vex shoe onto my Glock, I will be trying out the Glock Performance trigger kit. Thanks for watching and your advice!

Seems like the set screw wasn’t tightened and set far enough in to remove the slack. When the trigger was being installed, I saw the trigger shoe moving freely. I think that’s the problem. By removing the slack, the shoe won’t move while pressing the safety. I could be wrong. By the way. I’m having trouble finding any real defects other than user installation errors. 🤔.

I just took my timney trigger out of my Glock 35 a few days ago it would not reset so I put my stock trigger back in . Now I’m thinking I may just replace the timney trigger shoe on my stock trigger so it’s not a total waste

I've got the 4311 in my 43x mos and the trigger safety has been doing the same thing from the start. I contacted Johnny Glock and he emailed me and told me to watch his video on how to press a trigger first then get back to him.... Im leaning toward just putting the oem trigger back in...😢

On my vex the trigger the set screw for the safety came out and I lost it at the range. I contacted Johnny Glock and they sent me a new set screw. They instructed me to make sure I put Loctite on the set screw before installing. It is kind of sad that you pay closer to $300 and the trigger just breaks disappoint. Like you I am leaning uninstalling the OEM trigger and just moving on and just taking it in the shorts

Put in an M*Carbo trigger in my Glock 26. Adjustable travel. Nice wall, crisp break & quick reset. Also put one in my Hellcat. Very happy.

Why the Timney? Just go with the johnny Glocks Combat kit. Works like a charm.

Hindsight is 20/20. Already vested into the Timney so the Vex upgrade was worth a shot. Clearly it didn't pan out for Matt. I think I will be going the Glock Performance Trigger route to test it agaisnt the johnny glock and timney.

I have the Glock performance trigger and I’m literally having the same issues. I was going to take a Drimmel to the safety just enough to not eat my frame and call it a day. Curious to see how your GP trigger comes out

I bought the Johnny Glocks trigger shoe and connector for my Timney. I had the same problem. The Vex safety was hitting the frame. I must've installed and removed the trigger 50 times. I ended up removing the spring that came with the Johnny Glocks trigger shoe and removed the Johnny Glocks connector. I installed the lighter Timney spring on the Vex trigger and everything else Timney and Glock OEM. The Johnny Glocks trigger safety doesn't catch on the frame no more. I had to adjust the screw many times. I'm ok with this setup for now but I feel like Johnny Glocks Timney upgrades are overrated. I would have to feel a properly done setup in order for me to believe it's worth it.

Have you tried pressing the trigger from the very bottom portion of the trigger? I found changing my trigger press technique completely alleviated the issue of the safety tab from catching on my frame.

Removed coils like Johnny Glock said, it improved some, but we could still feel the polymer contact. Then JG released a video about his triggers basically stating, "Get better at your trigger pulls" sooo...disappointing to say the least.

I sold mine because I never could get it to work. I would say I literally took that Glock 19 apart I had probably 250 times in the 3 weeks I worked on it. I finally gave up and ended up selling the whole JG setup.

Clip 2 coils off the safety blade spring. That will fix this issue and give you that crisp short take up and reset/break without the safety blade drag upon press.

Custom part in a non custom gun. You gotta trim the trigger. Always cut the cheaper part first.

Look at how much the rear of the tab is contacting the frame. Thank about how much material removal this would require. That's not what's going on. For some reason, his trigger safety isn't depressing BEFORE the entire trigger shoe beings rearward movement. Spring pressure on the trigger safety should be overpowered by the trigger's main spring so that the former depresses first.
