Great diversity and tone. I have watched several videos of him and until I read a post here I had no idea he was blind. WOW!! I hope he will take care and be mindful of his health, I would love to have him around making music for a very long time.

I met Johnny Hiland in Johnstown PA at thunder in the valley. He was very polite and gracious. He is as good of a person as he is a guitar player.

This guitar seems more like a fusion between the CU24 and the CE24. It has the mahogany body with maple top but it also has a bolt on and maple neck. I think it's a really cool thing and I'm getting mine today :D

Master of rhythm, speed, versatility while maintaining distinctive personality! True musician and guitar hero! I wish they made a left-handed version of this model. By the way, what happened to the bird inlay? Thumbs up! Added to favorites!
@kerryharmon85284 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it's because of Johnny's poor vision (legally blind). Note that dot inlays are oversized. He has a nice 12th fret marker, but I think everything else is to help him see the fret markers.

OMGGGGGGGGGGG. was Johnny just finger tapping tha guitar. this guy is trully a guitarist of all trades

Johnny has those "fat sausage fingers" like Danny Gatton used to have. Any time you see a picker getting ready to play with mitts like that you can be almost certain they will be great players. I've played for over 40 years and I've seen it time and again.

2023 I am a fixed income old man good amateur guitarist . I lust for this guitar . Why can’t I hit the lottery and make my dream come true ? Okay now I understand the dislike of what purists call “ hybrid “ guitars . The term is like when a retail store takes on items way out of its niche in an effort to be well rounded but fails because it tries to be all things to all people . Yes I understand but the PRS Hiland is a solid argument against the purist stance
@FingerBrokenBranches13 жыл бұрын
@AlbusFret i dont imagine it'll be ideal for metal. i just meant i want a PRS for fun, for when i'm not playing metal. but they cost alot lol.
@AlbusFret13 жыл бұрын
@InfiniteMisery003 you can also play heavy metal with it ?
@6672rock10 жыл бұрын
Does his guitar have one of those flip-flop paint jobs? It looks purple in the distant camera, but brown close-up.

@downwitdakrown Just because he's blind doesn't take away from the fact the he has large fingers. And just because he made fun of his fingers doesn't mean that he doesn't know that he's blind.
@goldenaxeband14 жыл бұрын
I'm more impressed about the tone rather than his skills which are also great.
@williambickham20429 жыл бұрын
I don't think he ever did the coil tap single coil thing. Great player but he didn't do the single coil Telecaster thing. I don't care for the echo either, I'd rather just hear the guitar "dry".

If only they'd put a little more delay in that mix. 3 echoes just doesn't cut it.

It's really too bad that Paul and PRS could not keep Johnny as a sponsored artist. He was very good for the company image of diverse musical talents.
@wonnie2 жыл бұрын
It's also a shame that Musicman couldn't do the same either. He seems, however, very happy with Kiesel as of late though. The dude keeps evolving and keeps going without letting what he liked stop him from exploring new things.
@Thesongstaysthesame9 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know why he and PRS split ways?
@matthewwayne4615 жыл бұрын
MrMoneyHelper nailed it...
@dermotmoran20123 жыл бұрын
He also wasn't comfortable with all the workshops/promotions PRS wanted him to do. And with his sight difficulties and all the travelling for then didn't suit him either

I have never seen fatter fingers in my entire life. how the hell does he do that
@1maggan9 жыл бұрын
Sorry, just what I suspected, no spank in a humbucker pickup.
@stubhead9 жыл бұрын
Magnus Hartelius If you just put a series/parallel switch in there (and a Bill Lawrence L500XL) you'd have more spank than can be stood... I've been using them for a long time, the best description is that it really IS like two good tele bridge pu's next to each other. Not for the faint of heart.
@zacharysmith18539 жыл бұрын
Magnus Hartelius I thought 80% of spank came from the player :)
@1maggan9 жыл бұрын
zachary smith Correct, but i´m talking about the 20%.
@jamesrockford26269 жыл бұрын
+Magnus Hartelius spank..... lol... single coils are for girls
@stubhead9 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be so-oo co-ool if somebody would IDENTIFY "spank" in such a way that other people knew what it MEANT? I mean, MY guess would be it has something to do with a rapid attack - a peak at surely less than 40 or 25ms? And then a rapid decay also, at... some place-or-another. And I'd just GUESS it also meant a tone with a very high peak in the frequency - surely above 4k or 5K? But with the caveat that there's then a single SLAP against the next fret up which immediately squelches most of the rest of the entire signal but for sure the high end? Which is what WOULD happen with light-ish, .010" to .009" strings, low action and a pretty goosed-up Dynacomp. Well that's just MY guess, but as soon as the major magazines begin posting the actual SPECIFICS of what each tone actually IS, each major magazine will PERMANENTLY destroy all the guitar pickup sales INCOME they'll ever get for all of eterni... oh. no. wait... um. er. argh. RE-BOOT! As soon as the major magazines begin posting the actual SPECIFICS of what each pickup's tone actually IS, we'll all just be SO-OO much smarter,we'll only have to buy one or two more pickups our entire life! Now if THAT ain't just the win-winniest win-win scenario you ever done heard. Dad Gum!
